Sometimes when you are a non-playing director there are times when you are looking at the deals from the hand-record sheets during the game and find one that will be troublesome for someone who likes to stir trouble. Here is such a case:

South's 2C showed a limit raise or better in spades.
5CX by West made 5 (no smother play in hearts), +550 to EW. I was called back to the table. Since Pass was a logical alternative to East after West's hesitation, I rolled the contract back to 4S by North, down 1, 100 to EW. East tried to convince me that he always intended to bid 5C; hence I should allow the bid to stand. I asked him why he bid only 4C over 3S instead of what he "intended" to do right then and there; thus, I did not accept the self-serving statement. There were other flaws as well. East had a chance to bid hearts on his first turn but chose to pass. On West's second turn she had a chance to bid hearts as well.
I have seen this East bid before. I predicted, before he got to play this deal, that something like this would happen.
