As I sit here today

In the quiet of morn

laughs we shared, the tears we cried,

the words we said.

You are my friend, first and foremost,

and my heart will always be here

Promises we made, to always stay close

Seem to fade behind the confusion

of what we feel.

How did we get to this place?

This place of hurt

and despair

when what started out as friendship

was always supposed to be there?
