I thought you might be able to help me with something since you're in the fitness biz. I joined a gym the first of November. I do water aerobics, aqua jogging, the weight machines and some free weights. They have a couple of classes like Yoga and Pilates that I just don't feel I have the flexibility and stamina for yet. I've talked to a few of the other BBWs there who feel the same way. They only use the pool because they don't feel they could keep up in other classes and they're intimidated by the gym. I'm particularly interested in Yoga. Someone once sent me a link to Yoga for big girls, but there are no pictures of the poses to go along with the written descriptions. Do you know where I might be able to find some kind of instructional tapes for beginners or big girls with less flexibility/range of movement? I'd love to get some of those girls to expand their routine beyond their pool walking and it would be a big plus for me if I could get proficient enough to teach the class. I remember at one time there were a few Jazzercise type places here geared specifically to big girls. I don't know if it was a local franchise or something bigger, but they're not around anymore and I've never seen anything similar.

Oh yeah...and I've lost 25 pounds.  I would be proud of that under any circumstances, but especially since I started right before the eating season...lol.

I started pilates and yoga at home and bought a dvd combo
it's called Pilates complete for the inflexiable people
it allows you to grow and offers more than just beginner stuff so you can move on when your ready

Here is their website where they offer different dvd's

I got it at Zellers here.. so you may want to try Target they sell a lot of the same items & brands

I'm not too sure what you're looking for but at www.justaboutfitness.com they have hundreds of workout videos. One of them should be what you're looking for I would hope.  IF not then you know, Curves is for all women of all sizes and fitness levels ~Baby~

Thanks Indi, that's exactly what I had in mind!! The title makes me laugh though if you think of the double meaning of 'inflexible'. I could call my class "Yoga for people who are set in their ways"...lol. I'll probably just order it online, that was a pretty good price.

Thanks Baby, I'll check out that link. I was really looking for a program I could learn (either in person or through video) and teach at my own gym. They have a gymnasium where you can walk laps, an indoor pool, outdoor pool, tennis courts, raquetball courts, cardio room with treadmills, bikes and ellipticals and a weight room with fee weights and machines. Plus a room for floor exercises with balls and other equipment and classes from belly dancing to cut abs.. So I think I've got all the tools I need there to get in shape. I'd just like to see some of the BBW members there go beyond the pool and take advantage of more of the things the facility offers. I've never been uncomfortable at all using the machines and the weight room, but I haven't always been as comfortable with my Big , Beautiful body as I am now, so I understand how they feel. My goal is to have enough endurance by spring to take tennis or racquetball lessons.
