Riddle No. 1

A wealthy man named Richard Ellis had been counting his money. When he finished, he accidentally left a $100.00 bill on his desk. But when he returned for it a short while later, it was gone. Only two other persons could have seen the bill. One was the maid; the other was the butler.

The maid told him that she had hidden it for safekeeping under a green book that was on the desk. But when they looked the bill was not there.

The butler said he had found the bill where the maid had left it. He had placed it inside the book, where he thought there was less chance that somebody would find it. He had written down the page numbers so that he would not forget them. The bill was between pages 35 and 36, he said. But when they looked, there was no money in the book.

After Mr. Ellis had talked to the maid and the butler, he called the police. He was sure he knew who had taken the money. Who was it, and how did he know?

Riddle No. 3

A wise King wants an honest child to take his place on the throne. He gives each of his 3 sons a pack of flower seeds and tells them that the one who grows the most beautiful flowers from these seeds will have his throne. Six months pass and the king checks the flowers. The first 2 had beautiful flower beds while the last child had nothing in his plot but weeds and no flowers. Yet, the king chose this child to have the throne. Why?

The Butler did it. Odd numbered pages (like35) are always on the right hand side so you would have to turn the page to get to 36.

I have the answer to #3 with the help of childrens television programming...lol

The seed that the king gave to the three of them were weed seeds..... the two that had the beautiful gardens had substituted their seeds with good seeds so that they would give the king what they thought he wanted (flowers) .... the one that grew only weeds was the only honest one and used only the seed that the king had given him.
