I got my test results back today, the doctor called so early she woke my mom up. I kind of wish the test results could have been more productive, but it basically confirmed what we already suspected from the pictures. I have severe damage to my esophugus, I guess the bile that is supposed to stay in your stomach is actually literally burning a hole in my esophogus, and causing damage to the lining of my stomach. This is supposedly what is causing the severe pains in my chest area, I guess the pain from the acid can be that bad. I just wish that for once doctors had a solution other than new meds. I guess there are only three meds that they can even use for gastroparesis, and I've already tried and failed with all three. So now they are going to try combining two of the meds I've tried. I will be taking 250 mg of something called eurithimyasin...not sure how to spell that....three times a day twenty minutes before meals, 8 mcg of amitiza twice a day, 30mg of prevacid twice a day, and whatever my dosage is of cymbalta. I still feel really weak and tired from the procedure, which is a bit weird but I'm just so tired. I have to wonder if it was even worth it since my doctor already pretty much figured this was the case based on my symptoms, but I guess they have to confirm. It's getting harder for me to remember what pill to take when, and I don't even know if it's doing me any good. I go back to my doctor in five weeks, and have a phone conference in two, so we'll see what they decide to do next. Unfortunately I'm falling asleep as I write this, I don't feel very good and I can't stay awake any longer, so I guess I'm going to take a nap. I just thought I'd let people know what is going on.

Hi dear,

The erythromycin, will kill any bacteria from infection caused by the gastroparesis, the prevacid, will calm the acidity of your gastric juices that are coming up your esophagus making it all red and burning, hence, causing all your chest pain more than likely, and your cymbalta, hopefully will lift some of your depression which in turn, should decrease the acid production in your stomach too and decrease your pain also.

Endorphins are a natural pain killer that we humans produce with good feelings, laughter, love, seeing a beautiful sight, playing with pets etc. Through producing extra amounts of these endorphins, our body will heal itself. So if you can find an activity that produces pleasure you can naturally produce a painkiller that will help these medicines work more effectively.

When you have the stomach acids coming up into your esophagus, which is not tough enough to handle the effects of that acid, it will over time get destroyed and that is the reason for the prevacid, (acid blocker) and antibiotic to clean up any possible infections.

Your amitiza will decrease any bloating and abdominal discomfort and increase the fluids in the bowel. This will help your digestive system on the whole. I believe your tiredness and all is directly related to the bloating and body trying so hard to do all this work that is just not producing the right outcome, and the fact that youre depressed will make you so tired all you want to do is sleep. It is natural for someone who is depressed to sleep all the time. If you can substitute something pleasurable part of the time when you want to sleep, if will speed up coming out of the depression. But you cant overdo it or you will make the depression worse, I know someone who used going to the jacuzzi instead of napping as a pleasurable timeshare for one of their afternoon naps.

So hang in there and keep your chin up! Things will be on the mend in about a week for your tummy at least! All the rest we can just lean on each other ok!!!

Hugz, Normalee
