Hey tina, I started to worry so much yesturday that I did finaly call. He did a workup and decided the rsd had spread from my shoulder to my cervical spine. Now i'm scared beyond scared. I'm not sure if once it hits the spine it can move faster or not, but that fere is there.

Hi Sillyme208,

I started with RSD in my left hand and when it spread to the entire arm it crossed over my cervical spine and went down to T8(where the sympathetic nerves come out of the spine) then over to the entire right arm...now I had already had 2 carpel tunnel surgeries on my right hand and a right ulner nerve transposition so the RSD had nerve damage it could follow so It most likely wont do that to you. The good news I can give you is that Upper Eppidurals in the C spine have knocked down the spinal pain for up to 7 months at a time for me and it even cools off my arms a bit to where I cut down on my meds a bit.....but dont let it freak you out, its survivable and wont kill you :)

Best wishes

Frank

Mine seems to be fallowing  a path through damaged nerves to. Mine started in permantly damaged ulnar nerve then to entire arm due to carpal tunnel, on to shoulder that had cronic rotator cuff tendosis and now to cervical spine where the disk between c-5 c-6 is bulged. i'm praying for it to not settle into left arm where I have cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel.  The combination of meds im on now seems to help to a point thank god, but lately some mornings its hard for me to walk now, im not sure why but my whole back is stiff and in pain. I am diturmined though 34 to me is to young to turn in any towels heck 85 is to young, im a firm believe one should never give up !!!!!

Sillyme208,
There are so many of us here in just this group alone that their stories are the same. Even though I have had RSD for 9 years now I find it much more tolerable that I did when it first started.....I think in my case simply accepting it and letting my anger and frustration end... helped tremendously! I also found out that when I am hurting the worst to get out and move around instead of laying around, the RSD does better when you get your blood flowing.
Take care,
Frank
