After quite some time rallying and letter writing and worrying about tie-bars, Michigan finally pulls through for us RSD sufferers! As of yesterday December 13, 2006, RSD/CRPS public awareness will become LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more will someone be able to tell us to shove it and get away with it. Yippee!!!

I have been watching this one from the beginning and extend a heartfelt thank you to Rep. Virgil Smith and all those who voted for us and who continue to fight for our cause. I included an excerpt of my notification of the passing of the bill for all to read and perhaps shed a few tears as I have.

Love, Summer

Advocacy Update
Good News! Your Action Made a Difference in Michigan!

We would like to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to send a message to support Michigan Bill, H.B. 5603. This bill was passed yesterday (December 13th, 2006) and is on the way to the Governor of Michigan, to be signed into law! As you may remember, this bill was introduced by Rep. Virgil Smith and authorizes the establishment of a public education and outreach campaign to promote awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We would like to congratulate Jannie White, Michigan POP Action Network Leader, for her untiring effort to advocate for the passage of this bill. APF's online advocacy system recorded that 325 emails and 65 faxes were sent advocating for the passage of this bill! This was truly a collaborative effort, as other organizations and individuals joined forces to leverage our collective voices.

The voice of people affected by pain made a difference! Your action made a difference and we at APF thank you.

The bill can be viewed at http://www.legislature.mi.gov/.

Best Regards,

Mary Bennett
Director of Mobilization
