Pears (as many as neccessary)
Red Wine (cheap)
Cinnamon Sticks 2 or 3
Pepper Corns 5 or 6
A few whole cloves
Sugar (lots)
Peel pears leaving stems on, slice off bottom of pear so the pear will stand on it's own. Pour red wine into a pot large enough to cover pears, bring to a boil, add sugar (sweeten to taste), add cinnamon sticks, cloves,pepper corns then pears and boil until fork tender (approx 1.5hrs)
Serve hot or cold with vanilla ice cream, top pears with whip cream and drizzle some of the remaining wine sauce over the ice cream.
