As some of my friends already know, last year I lost my faithful old Welsh Border Collie, Megan, at the age of 16 years. To lose Meg almost broke my heart and it was quite like losing a child. My own kids could hardly remember a time without her. I still have two dogs, a Tibettan Terrier called Max, and a Parson's Jack Russel called Archie (named after Cary Grant, now there's a conundrum ). A couple of weeks ago, my daughter came home with an 8-week old Welsh Border Collie who faced a very uncertain future simply because the breeder was to go to the States the very next day to get married and needed to get rid of the last remaining pup very urgently. It looked likely that this little gal would be put down. Had it been me, I would have postponed the wedding, but I guess we all have our individual priorities. Suffice to say, I welcomed the new arrival with open arms . Who but a mercanary could possibly contemplate putting a little dog like this down for such a flimsy reason as a mere wedding? Still, I guess she'd made her money out of the other pups, and 'Holly' as she's been named, was just surplus to requirements. Pinza |

Hi Pinza, I am so pleased for you and proud that you saved this little 'un :-) (yay! yay! cheer! cheer!) The pictures are excellent - although I hope that things aren't too chaotic with the three dogs! :)qb |

Hi Badger, Nice to hear from you. The new pup gets on great with my Parson's Jack Russel. He's only 18 months old and loves to play, but the Tibettan is a lot older and not so amiable. I just have to make sure I'm busy with a shovel on a daily basis, otherwise, everything's fine . Pinza |

Hi pinza ... sorry about your old pal and i do know what the feeling's like ...I lost my last three at 17,14 and 12. Anyway, glad you've made space for another and she looks a little doll ! Oh for the days when I had a litter or two bustling round lol Turns green with envy heh |

Hiya Sheepy, I had an idea you'd like my new friend . We love her to bits. Here's another piccie of Holly lying on an old rug we put down in case of accidents. Fortunately, those have been very rare, but on the one occasion when she did feel it necessary to crap in the house, she pulled out an old football magazine from the re-cycling pile, scattered the pages across the kitchen floor, and dumped on a picture of a Manchester United player! Now I have been a Man City fan for some 38 years and found the little dog's level of intellect and intuition quite remarkable. They do say that Welsh Border Collies are clever, but that just about beats them all! lol Pinza |
