Deep Red

Black-red. Woody blackcurrant aroma, restrained. Cherry flavour, with woody tannins. Prominent fruit, vanilla tint, astringent and totally "duck-in-a-bottle". The gorgeous accompaniment to roast duck. All-time favourite of mine.

Ruby Red

I tried the wine produced by Bruno Nicodemi. Flavour - sunshine, fruit dominated by cherry, with slight oak. Slightly astringent. Perfect with pork stroganoff.

Red
|
I quote from the label - "The noble varity Xinomavro, cultivated in specially selected vineyards, offers a limited production of this fine red A.O.C. wine. Aging for two years in oak casks and 2 more years in the bottles, Grand Reserve Naoussa has developed a richness in taste and a complexity of bouquet" ....... how true and yummmmm !!

Bought "en primeur", the first case of this Spanish "grand" wine arrived in April ..... next case, having stayed "in the wood" for longer, will arrive next April. Harvested in 1999, this is a sumptuous, glowing, red; fruity and velvety, with light oak and vanilla overtones .... very like a really high quality Italian wine. Am looking forward to next year's case too !!

Vin doux naturel - a French fortified wine (17º vol); strong dessert wine - muscat flavour, dry-ish. The French equivalent to tawny port. From the Rhone Valley or S W France. Go to www.vinyards-direct.com for more info. Yummy with panetonne.

Again bought "en primeur". this is a light, fruity red, light in tannin, but up to drinking with duck in orange and manzanilla. Would equally drink well on its own. Oak aged for 5 years and then 1 year in the bottle .... I look forward to tasting the rest over the next year ....... or two !!!
