sorry to communicate this way but I am at war with some nasty worms :)

I am getting the DriveIn postings on email. I have the lost the home page and msg board. Would you minding posting the url for the home page of the Drive In?

Then if the Ghost is still out there I will make him crazy with music questions so I can get updated. Music is most important :)

If you have a worm in your computer or virus have you scanned it with one of the free online scanners? Do you know the name of the worm? There are many tools on the internet that can help you get rid of viruses and worms...

Let me know and I'll see what I can come up with for you.

regarding my worms :) I have 2004 latest Norton complete utilities and all Symantic has to offer.

You are truly a good person to offer to help me; I appreciate it.

The lesson learned here is that when the brilliant kids graduate college with honors and come home; Don't let them in. Being cocky, I networked the house for the little darlings...I mean I even got on a ladder and drilled up through the floor (when my mother wasn't here)...I was so very proud to have networked my two college darlings using my perfect computer as the server. I now have everything from a "specialty lesbian virus" to almost 214 worms and virus's from their campus computers. My daughter's only remark was "well how the hell do you think I FELT when people thought I was a lesbian". The "child" is a law student. This must explain the legal system brains of our country :))

I am now going to the home page because I can see enough on the email to be worried about Elvis. Hopefully, I will soon be in chat and I promise not to bring any of my wormy things with me :)

Another note before RH's directions........Your best chance of finding someone in the chatroom is in the evenings however, it never hurts to try and see if someone's there just waiting for YOU!

"MSChat2.5 is NOT the only way to get to our chatroom.

There are other programs, pirch and mIRC which can also

take you there. Some find these programs more complex

than MSChat 2.5, and some find them to work better for

them. All of these programs however, MUST be downloaded,

and properly installed. When downloading MSChat2.5, I

believe what you download is an exe. file, so after

downloading it, you have to go to where you downloaded it,

and complete the installation process same with pirch and mIRC.

BUT - if all you want, is to be able to get to the chatroom, you

don't particularly want to download anything, or you've tried to

download/install MSChat2 with no luck - there is still another,

and much easier option. This connecting via Java. Try this:

First connect in your regular browser window to:

http://www.starchat.net/chat/index.php

A window will pop up, asking if you want to run and install

Java applet - click on yes.

Now, in the window that opens, change where it says Nick

from Guest to Whoever you are.

Next, change the Channel/Room to 50sDriveIn.

you can leave the Registered Nick Password blank FOR now...

BUT, it is a good idea to register your nick, and IF you use

AOL.... StarChat does not allow anyone you type at to see

what you've typed, if your nick isn't registered - I'll get to

that later though, if you don't use aol... for now - let's just

try to get you in the room.

You don't need to worry about the Channel/Room key - that's

complex owner stuff, that to the best of my knowledge isn't

used in the DriveIn.

You can leave the server at irc.starchat.net - sometimes one

server is too full, but generally there's not a lot of problems

on this server... at least, not that I've had to deal with.

OK - now go to the bottom, and click on Connect To StarChat.

ok - and that should take you straight to the room!

Now, about the aol stuff:

If you are connecting via an aol connection - you will get to the

room, and will notice we all say hi to you, you'll type something

back at us - but we will NOT see anything you type. If you use

aol, you MUST register with StarChat, and then your typings will

be seen by all. (If that doesn't make sense, just ask)

Go to: http://www.starchat.net/

Click on AOL User Registration at the top. You will be given

directions from there.

Also on that page, are links to both StarMIRC, or StarPIRCH...

in case you want to experiment with another program that

can take you to chat besides MSChat2.5 - BUT,

for anyone who wants to get there, and so far hasn't been

able to..... Try the Java links, ok???"
