To find us in chat you will have to look other than the Chat here in the community. We can be found on the StarChat server in room #50sDriveIn or if you are a trivia buff, in #50sDriveIn2. If you would like to chat with a few friends on MSN, please scroll all they way down to the bottom of the blue/gray area on the left and click on the page entitled "The Drive In Chat - on MSN". This is NOT our regular chat room, rather a place where you can schedule a chat with friends.
If you would like to chat in MSN Chat 2.5 (most of us do cause we love to play and exchange wav... i.e. song files) you will have to download it to your computer if you don't already have it. Check before you download it, it usually is included with Windows 98, so you may already have it installed. If you don't, then go directly here to download it.
Just download it and save it to your program files. This site also gives you a brief tutorial on using MSN Chat 2.5. When you first open it up after downloading, you will see a Chat Connection Window. It will say Microsoft Chat Servers. Highlight that and add the server address which is irc.starchat.net. Just type that in the server window, add it and then type in the room name #50sDriveIn.. Just like that with the # sign and no spaces. Next click on the tab at the top that says Personal Info and choose a chat nic. You can add your name if you want to... (most of us don't) and a brief description of yourself. Then click on ok and wait to be connected.
When you first connect you may be in comic mode and see little comic figures. If you want to keep chatting that way, fine, but it drives me nuts so I always chat in just text. To change it go to the top of the screen...click on view and then click on plain text.

If you want to visit the #50sDriveIn without downloading MSN Chat 2.5, or Pirch you can do it right thru the web. Go to http://www.starchat.net/java.php?chan=Starchat. When the new window opens, go to the first box. Pick a nickname you would like to use, type in in and then go to the second box and type in the room name, #50sDriveIn (or to play trivia, #50sDriveIn2). Click Connect now at the bottom and you should pop right into our chat room.
