OK people,  if you decide to go to Multiply, be sure to read the "fine print" as to who will or won't receive your invite.  If you don't check it off, Multiply will mail invites to EVERYONE in your E-Mail address book, and then anyone who responds to you, it will do the same thing with theirs.
Talk about opening a can of worms....But now you know !!

No offense meant FT.  But I've already done the "Multiply" thing.  And I'm sure your efforts are greatly appreciated.  I have basically given up on this room a long time ago for personal reasons.
But, and I'll reiterate...anyone who receives and invite from Multiply, if they don't read the fine print and check the appropriate boxes before accepting the "Terms" they will and I do mean will open up a can of worms for you and anyone else in yours or theirs directory.

So all in all...thanks for your effort.  I was just trying to enlighten everyone.  And there is no getting out even if you quit, if you didn't check don't forward e-mail or something to that extent.

So I hope you all enjoy the new site.  Was fun while the ride lasted.  Sounds like what I said a couple of days ago at my buddy's funeral.
Goodbye.

Most people HAVE given up on this room but personally, at this point, I HAVE NOT.

I've met some wonderful friends here and would hate to lost them just because of issues that they don't like multiply.  I won't however, create another site.  That requires more work on my part which i'm not willing to do.  It was more than i really expected to get the group set up at multiply, but it's done and there for everyone to use or not.

BTW, i think there is a misunderstanding in that multiply does NOT share your email address with anyone.
They do NOT attach to your personal email contact list and send out invitations.

COPIED FROM THE MULTIPLY TERMS

Multiply will never share your personal information with any non-registered user of our site or third party company or person without your explicit consent. Note also that we require prospective members to confirm the e-mail address provided at registration, preventing someone from registering with another person's e-mail address.

With Whom Information May Be Shared

1.Third Parties

Multiply will not sell or lease your personal information to third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law. We may share your information with third parties under certain circumstances:

if sharing your information is necessary to execute a specific request by you (e.g., purchasing premium services via credit card, in which case it would be necessary to share your information with a credit card processing company). In these specific cases third parties will not retain, share or store any personally identifiable information except to provide the specific services requested by you, and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements which limit their use of such information.

if sharing your information is required by law or is necessary to respond to a subpoena, warrant or court order, or to protect the rights of Multiply or its members.

if you give us explicit permission to share your information for any reason not stated in this privacy policy.

2.Other Multiply Members

Occasionally you may invite a non-member of Multiply to register with the site and join your network or group. You also may invite existing Multiply members to join a group or become your direct contact. In these cases, Multiply generates an e-mail message to your invitee that may list information such as your e-mail address, your full name and your headshot photo (if you have provided one). The rest of your contact information will only be shared with the person you invite if both of you have indicated that you would like to establish each other as contacts. In addition, when you visit another Multiply member's home page, we may share with that member your User ID and headshot image, if you've provided one, as well as the date and time you visited the page.

You Have Control Over Your Personal Information

The success of Multiply is directly related to your trust in our privacy practices. Although we encourage our members to share information to get the most benefit from the site, we also let you control the way certain personal information is displayed on the site. Although we provide powerful tools for you to share information, remember it is always your choice whether or not to share certain information with other Multiply members or the general public.

You can change any of your personal information stored on the Multiply site at any time, whether it be the information supplied at registration (with the exception of your user ID), for your profile page or anything else. You may change information in the Setup and Profile areas. In addition, you may cancel your Multiply membership by sending us an e-mail via our Contact page. Once we process your request, we will remove your name and other personally identifiable information from our database.

OK....this is just a very few messages from one of my other groups and I have many more where this came from too & many other groups that feel the same way about this multiply.....  Peachyyy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hoss, Multiply is sending out invites to everyone on my email list... most of them do not even know about MSN Groups... I am getting emails from several.. asking what is going on..... Some have joined and all of their contacts are being invited. I know they are not joining the Peers 60s Plus Group... this would be for the overall Multiply site... I think this is horrible.
This is a huuuge invasion of Privacy.....
If Multiply is going to abuse the email addresses... I do not want to belong to this site.
Unless I create a new email that as no contacts on it ... just for Multiply.
They also show what city the person lives in... again, invasion of privacy..... good thing I put down the wrong one.... but it is stil listed.. based upon the zip code.
Please let me know, if I can block that sort of thing.
Thank you.
I have received sooooo many complaints that I  had to write an email  to all of my contacts explaining what happened.... and for them to remove themselves from the Site... they now will have to write their contacts... WHAT A MESS.
I cannot believe a site would not protect emails...much less use it for enlarging their site.  A perfect example of  invasion of Privacy...
I got a response back from one of my contacts who have friends who joined this site at least 6 months ago, it caused them so many problems... they all dropped out.
Hoss, I'm not sure about this site... I will consider rejoining when I get a new email addy that has no contacts.
I received e-mails and changed my settings and that took care of the problem.
However, my home town showed and I could not figure out how to make it invisible.  I can usually figures these things out,,,,,,,,but not this time.  I received an e-mail from a man I do not know telling me he grew up near here.  That scares me.
I deleted my group -  NonasPlace, quit Peers60s group, and cancelled my membership in Multiply.  I will not be back in that site.
I have a group in Yuku and that's where I am staying.  It is easy to learn and understand and is well organized.  I've accepted the fact that MSN is closing and I don't enjoy any of the options but until someone develops something better for my taste,,,,,,,,,Yuku is home for me.
Good luck with Multiply,,,,,,Linda and Hoss.  I'll see y'all in chat as I don't want to loose touch with you but Multiply isn't the place for me.
If that's the case, they should have closely read what they were doing.  Multiply will ONLY do what the individual ALLOWS them to do, but they won't use your contact list to do it in you personal email account.
Actually i really don't care anymore.  Do what you all wish.  You've taken the bubble out of this ole man.  Ya need to read what you're allowing so it's NOT a multiply problem, IT'S YOUR'S.
If this didn't personally happen to you then all you are doing is spreading malicious RUMORS and scaring other people.  My bet is everyone heard it from someone else.
All the above that peachy posted is just a matter of going into your email settings and changing what's there.  People just aren't understanding that.  Those unwanted emails will stop if they do that.
Just two of my own that I got recently...all others have been deleted.  Yes...I got an invite from RQ when he was trying it out earlier and he had to tell me it was a mistake, he didn't send it...now I have gotten many of these things & everyone says the same thing when ya e-mail then back....they didn't even know it was sent in their name.
Ya can't change something when ya don't know it's doing that.
Anyway....I for one left multiply & that wasn't easy getting out once your there either and no...I am not completely ignorant and neither is anyone else.
U shouldn't have to be a PC geek....to use a site like that, if it was set up better for groups.
Of course....as I said before...I am NOT..NOT...NOT blaming U FT...or anyone else....this is my personal opinon!!!
Now I am sure MM didn't know she was sending this out to everyone on her list either...just like the others listed above did not know that was happening.
I agree w/RQ and many others....it doesn't need to be difficult.
FT....U are good w/computers and U still don't know alot of stuff in there....but U R good @ figuring it out & it took U months to do it.
Anyone that still wants to keep in touch w/me has my e-mail & NO...I have not posted in here for awhile because of major health problems & FT....U should remember that...U & Fancy called & talked to me in rehab, which I greatly appreciated & U should know that this is NOT about U..it is about multiply & the way it is set up.
Peachyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Well, this is Bojangles, aka Mr. Beaux Jangles now, and I never did receive an offensive report on this site, nor did any of my personal e-mail and MSN people ever complain to me.  So get off of Father Time's ass and give him credit for trying to keep the old gang together,   Nuff Said!!!!
I very much agree Bob. He did all the work. He has been valiantly trying to get people to get it up and running with his lovely "Good Mornings." I haven't seen FT get the warm fuzzies he deserves. I am not really a regular in here, and don't know you that well, FT, but what the heck, I send you a warm, fuzzy Scottish hug from Mississauga. Again, thank you for your cheerful good mornings. Jan
