"Rainmaker"
for Karin Austin
i captured the rain,
smiling in the sun,
+
i watched it
over
+
over
my mind grows dark,
my thoughts move slow,
like clouds.
emotions stir like an angry sea.
lightning flashes!
+
i see everything
i burn,
i spin,
i resist,
+
i give in...
the thunder crackles loud,
i laugh at the irony.
i feel two cold drops of water,
they penetrate deep into my skin,
soothing the soul.
three drops chase,
+
more,
tormenting the soul,
consuming the world i'm in,
mY dUNGEON.
"Can you save me?"
"Will you make me happy?"
do i live inside yr head?
or am i dead?
do i dance inside yr heart,
as we dance in the rain?
our bodies touch,
our clothes cling to our skin,
the same as skin,
+
oh, her hair,
her lips,
our hearts racing in the dark.
i feel her close, yet far away,
she scares me.
i kick a puddle,
full of boyish charm,
my hair wet in my face,
i feel like a star,
i feel like James Dean,
+
i bURN,
i spin,
i resist,
+
i give in...
again + again,
she sees through it all.
sHE sEES dIAMOND eYES,
iN tHE gREEN mOoNLIGHT,
pOUNDING aGAINST tHE wALL,
sOAKED bY rAIN,
sCREAMING fOR lOVE,
she could draw her picture,
but she lost the faith to create.
i search endless empty traintracks,
to find her letter about the rain.
i search for the man who saw right through us;
something small to symbolize my affections.
sHE wEARS tHE gOD oF tHUNDER aROUND hER nECK,

sCRIBBLE fEELINGS,
dRAW,
sMOKE,
dRINK,
cRY,
dANCE!
if she chose to pour herself,
for forty days + forty nights,
who would ride her ark?
+
if it were me,
could i handle an overdose,
of the purest ecstasy?
