I love the sun & was in fields and lanes and then back to the garden on one fantastic day, got nicely burnt for my pains, but it was so beautiful and I thought I could try and write it up so I gave it a go.  This needs some work, it's really off the top of my head stream of consiousness, but now the  gone in and I've run out inspiration .. so anyway

In front of me
rich cherry-brown leaves
of a nameless tree
shake and glisten
with summerbright jewels

In a stronger wind
is a giant of another
grander and  greener
her great canopy
tossed and thrown like
frolicking dancers
in some strange galleon
riding high
in a wild green sea

Larks rise into hot blue
to taste warm insects
delicious to their tongues

A dragonfly drums
trapped for a second time
and then is gone.

A small fly lands on my freckled arm,
drinks a head of sweat
does dizzying circles around my neck
til a better sense homes her
to sweet yellow flowers
set on a sill
I am browned & burned
but will stay here still

This sundown bird cheeps a dusk- long warning,
insisting, urgent
And as if on orders
the driven winds
obey and are quietened
Then the air is hushed
the great green galleon stops her swaying
droopy fruits cease their stirring
all is  heavy and still
and the grass has stopped breathing
Then at last daylight sighed
and gave up her will
to the first chill of evening

A breeze slips in, cold,
a blackbird sings
a strong
and ancient song
instinctive timing
listen now all things of the light
and take good shelter  from
the unknowable night

I head for home
down the old wagon path
My feet crush small flowers
in cold dusty grass

A soft summer evening,
a moon of fools gold
bleeds through cobolt clouds
and moves up through the trees.

And deep in the west
weak stars are singing
their siren songs,
they will carry them on
into distant futures
and we have to go too
- can't let it be a silent song
Larks should play thermals
through unborn times
and blackbirds should always
sing out end-of-day rhymes

Cherry brown leaves and summerbright jewels....It's so enriching and enchanting. I love the last four lines, finished off nicely with those pretty bird songs :) Nice work It doesn't need tidying up....I love it how it is...that's always the best...whatever comes out first

thanks Trinity....  and I agree -i think if you're not good at tidying (and you should see my bedroom lol) & you try to do it, you can lose some of the joy & the spirit of the original

Agreed Jodie poetry is off the wall...that's what makes it beautiful to read....
Mine is a little organised, or atleast it seems so....I think( thought) often in ryhme....so that's how mine surfaces in my writing too....if I try to randomize it doesn't work because that actually takes thought lol. Yours works fabulously, i'd like to read more.
Hubby ( Six) introduced me to poetry, I see he has a newbie he's written here I may go check it out...his writing is a very random style that I like and admire too...it works...somehow...I haven't figured that part out yet lol....but I guess if it's something you have to learn, then it's not really your own!!!
