Okie dokie I had a lot of request on how to make an altar and I thought I would try and simplify it as much as possible so people wern't confused. I kow there are pictures out there of eleaborae altar set ups but reality is you do not need that. An altar basically should contain things that are used in rituals. You may add little things to your altar here and there as you wish, so long as you can remain to stay focused on the purpose of what you are doing, and that the items do not pose a destraction. ( I know I love to look at my Brick Brack lmfao So I would be distracted LOL) Now not in this diagram of course, I hope many of you spoted are some other items, Incense, Book of Shadows, offerings, cauldron etc.. that's because I want you to be able to figure out where to put those on youw own. This set up is bassically a set up for a table not a whole room , so don't panic. I do not want you thinking that you need an entire room for an altar. Just the opposite, it can be placed anywhere that you will not be destrubed while crafting. Now I get asked a lot I do not have this color candle is that okay? Is there something else I can use? The answer is yes! White is a color that can be turned into any color as long as you are able to visualize it. ( anything is possible with visualization.) Now you see the cup, pentacla, dagger, and wand. No you do not have to go out and get all of these items specially for your altar. As it is not necessary. You can use things in your home for this. You can take a wine glass you have for the cup, or even a coffee cup , or drinking cup, be imaginative, But once you use this item for the purpose it's best to keep it there and use it only for your magickal workings, so that it doesn't loose it's charge, or energies. Now as far as a wand goes you can use anything that would represent a wand, I feel sometimes the more simple the object the more energy will go into you. ( my own opinion.). Best thing as a subsitute wand is something given to you by nature ( again my own opinion) I personally went out into the woods, and found mine from a tree. ( always make sure that it is offered to you by nature, and you are not destroying a tree for this purpose. ) I used mine for the first few years. The dagger, I know you don't have one what can you use now? Again, the dagger is a visual aide, I say this like it's easy I know but once you become skilled at it, it will be. In my first altar set up I used a pocket knife to represent my dagger. Like I said think look around your home for things you have. The pentical is easy enough to craft by yourself without having to go out and buy one. Anyone , Yes Anyone can do this. I made my first one from twigs I found in my yard, I tide them all together and boom. It didn't cost me and arm and a leg, and it left me something I was proud I did. Now I know as you go along there will be other altar set ups, but this is a good basic one to get you going. My maine purpose of this room is to teach you basics so you can teach yourself. If you have the basics you can get all elaborate from there yourself . Now good luck! ( written by M. Grant for Witche's Oak and Extended Family Family) |
