Home Made Lotions There is nothing worse if you ask me then awaking to cracked elbows or feet, and having that all in all ick feeling of dryness. It's hard to find lotions that suit our needs. Cause a company isn't going to know if we need more parafin or less, or if the scent is too strong or not strong enough. But if we make our own we get them just as we want them cause we are the designer, maker of it. So we aren't making it for billions of people Just one, US!!! We all have our own tastes and needs, and I recgonize this. So I bring you these lotions that you can make at home. The Author is unkonw but they work great. Basic Cold Cream
1/4 teaspoon Borax 1/3 cup + 1 Tablespoon + 2 teaspoons Cottenseed oil 1 oz. Beeswax 2 3/4 teaspoons Paraffin 1/4 cup + 1 1/2 teaspoon Distilled Water Essential Oil - your choice of scent (optional)
Dissolve the borax in water and heat in top of a double boiler to 167 degrees F. Heat the waxes and oil in a second double boiler to 158 degrees F. This time add the OIL and WAX to the Borax and water solution, stirring vigorously. Continue stirring till the mixture reaches 122 degrees F. Add essential oils if desired.
Exotic Skin Cream
1 teaspoon Cardamon 2 teaspoons each Rose Petals, Vetiver, Patchouli, Mace, Red Clover and Linden leaves 4 teaspoons Coconut oil 5 Tablespoons Almond oil 1 Tablespoon Hazelnut oil 1 ounce Beeswax 2 drops Sandalwood essential oil 1 drop Vetiver essential oil 1 drop Patchouli essential oil 3 drops Rose essential oil 5 teaspoons Rosewater 1 drop Cedarwood essential oil 5 drops tincture of Benzoin
In a double boiler, gently simmer the first seven herbs for 10 minutes in a mixture of coconut oil, almond oil and hazelnut oil. Strain out the herbs and reheat, adding beeswax. When melted, remove from heat, stirring slowly until cool. Add the remaining ingredients, mix, and transfer by spatula to a small, tightly capped jar. Refrigerate for a refreshing cream to use in the morning or at night.
Old Fashioned Rose Water & Glycerine Lotion
4 ounces rose water 4 ounces glycerin
Combine ingredients in saucepan and heat, stirring well. Do Not Boil. Pour into bottle and allow to cool. Shake well before using. This has been a standard natural skin softener for many years.
Silky Skin Cream
1/4 cup Coconut oil 1 Tablespoon Almond oil 1/2 oz. Beeswax, melted 2 teaspoon Aloe Vera gel Essential Oil of choice
Mix all the ingredients together in a jar and place the jar in a pan of water on top of the stove over medium heat. Heat ingredients until wax is COMPLETELY melted. This may take a while. When melted remove the jar from heat and whisk well. The aloe vera gel will settle on the bottom. Whisk in your favorite essential oil or blend. Give it a gentle whisk every couple minutes until you see that the mixture begins to thicken and aloe no longer separates. (This will only take a few minutes.) Pour quickly into containers before it gets too thick to pour. Do not over beat the mixture. It makes a lovely solid cream, that feels soft and silky on the skin.
Soothing Skin Gel
1 cup Aloe Vera Gel 1 Tablespoon cornstarch 2 Tablespoons Witch Hazel 6-8 drops Essential Oil of your choice
Combine aloe, cornstarch and witch hazel in the top of a double boiler. Heat the mixture until it has thickened to a honey like consistency, stirring occasionally. Cool, and mix in the essential oil. Pour into a clean, airtight container. Massage into tired feet and legs after a long day or onto overexposed skin.
