There are a couple of ways you can "Bathe" yourself in colored light. Let's look at a them.
Visualization
If you have a good imagination then this should be fairly easy for you. If you are one of those people who have a hard time "seeing things in your head" then this exercise is really good to use to practice on.
You can sit or lay down for this one. I will give the sitting instructions first.
You'll want to set a timer for this. This is not to add any pressure. It's so that you don't expose yourself to a color for too long ( too much is just as bad as not enough). I suggest no more than 10 minutes. Five minutes is usually ideal if you are beginning these sort of exercises....simply because when you do manage to calm and focus time seems to stretch.
If you finish the exercise before the ringer goes off don't worry about it. The time limit is not an absolute. It's just a good rule of thumb when starting these things off.
Also if the timer goes off before you are finished do not despair. The more often you practice the easier it will become to get into that state of mind for visualization.
"Waterfall"
1- Sit comfortably. In a chair or on the floor.
2- Relax. Take a moment to breathe in.....hold it for a moment.....then breathe out. Do this a few times until you feel you are relaxed.
3- Close your eyes and visualize ( imagine /see in your minds eye) the color you wish to work with.
4- See the color above you. Bright and throbbing.
5- Now see it "Rain" down on you, much like a waterfall. Feel it cascade over you. Let it soak through you.
6- Now let it run off of you. Cascading down and into the ground.
7- Take a look at your bright color. Watch it fade out gradually.
8- When the color has faded breathe in deeply....hold it for a moment.....now exhale.....
9- Open your eyes.
How did this make you feel?
This is one I like to use when I am laying down.
"Scanner"
1- Lay down comfortably on your back. If you need pillows to support your knees, or legs or head a bit thats fine.
2- Close your eyes and relax. Breathe in for a moment......hold it......exhale.Do this a few times until you feel you are relaxed.
3- See above you in your mind's eye a ball of light ( you choose the color here).
4- See it down by your feet. Now watch as it beams a ray of light down over your feet. Watch as it slowly "scans" its way up your body. From your feet to your knees, from your knees to your hips, from your hips to your belly, from your belly to your chest, from your chest to the tip of your chin, and finally from your chin up past your head.
5- As it scans you feel the light as it hits your body. Soak it up.
6- Now scan in reverse. From your head all the way back to your feet.
7- When you are done look above and turn off your light.
8- Relax and breathe in....hold it......exhale.
9- Open your eyes.
How did that make you feel?
These are only a couple of Visualizations. There are more out there and you can eveb fine tune one for yourself.
So what if you are not so good at visualizing?
That is easy enough to fix. I am assuming you have windows in your house right? Pick one that you can sit near comfortably. You can tape up some tissue paper, gauzy material, even colored cellophane to the window and bathe in the light ( assuming its a sunny day) that comes thtough ( No more than 10 minutes when you are starting though).
If you are like me and live in a Sunlight restricted State then this may be problematic.
You have a flashlight? Great! You can always tape your color over the lense and hang it from the ceiling . Then just sit under it. Not terribly complicated ( and so much safer than putting material near a lightbulb).
If you have lamps perhaps you can find lampshades that fit the color you are looking for.
Also they do make colored bulbs ( you can find them in the lightbulb section of your store) though the color selection is limited. And NEVER use black lights for purple. That is not a purple light ( so to speak).
Anyways I hope this information helped clarify how you can bathe in colored light.
