Sore Throat refers to the inflammation of the pharynx or back of the throat it occurs freuquently when a person has a cold or an attack of influenza. This inflammation may also involve the tonsils and adenoids.
In the case of an acute sore throat, the patient complains of pain, irritation, and inflammation in the throat; followed by chills, fever and some hoarseness or laryngitis. The lymph glands along the sides of the neck may become swollen and tender. The back of the throat may become very red and even covered with a greyish-white membrane. The patient may find difficulty in swallowing, especially during the acute stage. There may also be some postnatal discharge if the inflammation has spread to the nasal passages.
The Main cause of sore throats are common cold and influenza. Other causes include; Sinusitis, Measles, Diphtheria, and even Leukemia in rare cases.
Sore Throat Treatment with FENUGREEK SEEDS:
A gargle prepared from fenugreek seeds has been found to be a very effective remedy for dealing with a sore throat. To prepare this gargle, two tablespoons of feugreek seeds, should be put in a liter of cold water and allowed to simmer in a half an hour over a low flame. This should then be allowed to cool to a bearable temperature, strained, and then used entirely as a gargle.
Sore Throat Remedy with Tea Dcoction;
A Decotion made from tea leaves is very beneficial in the treatment of a sore throat. This decoction, mixed with a pinch of salt should be used a a gargle. Itcan be used two or three times adaily for obtaining relief. It is not necessary to use fresh l eaves for this purpose. Boiling water can be poured over used tea leaves in the tea jug and this decoctin used as a gargle.
Sore Throat Remedy with Tamarind:
Tamarind is also beneficial in the treatment of this condition. Tamarind water sould be used as ag argle. A powder of the dry leaves and an infusion of the bark can also be used for preparation of a gargle for treating sore throat.
Sore Throat Remedy with Borage Tea;
Make a tea using 1/2 cup of borage leaves to 2 cups of boiling water. Steep for 30 minutes. Strain and refrigerate. Use as a gargle when needed for sore throats.
Sore throat Remedy with Anise Tea:
Anise Mint tea is very good for sore throats. Use 1 teaspoon dried Anise Mint for each cup of boiling water. Let steep ten minutes. Strain and sweeten. Drink as warm as possible Repeat as often as desired.
