chapter1; living.the.dream

Another day of shameless self promoting down, only a few more to go. Only a week away from what is to be the biggest match of her young career thus far, Kia was exhausted both physically and mentally. When she wasn't out and about promoting the Championship Scramble match as one of the three contenders to the champ, she was in the ring with Chris... or Summer... or Kevin... or Blake, and the list goes on. So far, things had been pretty quiet on the match front; an interview from the champ and Ivy Stratus running her mouth about God knows what. Something random and unintelligble obviously. Nothing new. Harping on the unimportant, the past. But no need for that on Kia's end, that's some other diva's bags. Past has been and gone, time to look to the future. The future is crowning a new Women's Champion. Tapanga is a great champion, just like Jeanette was before her. But it was time for a new champ. And there was no doubt in her own mind that it was going to be the one and only, Kia Mitchell. Why? Because you gotta have some sort of confidence... and what better way than convincing yourself that you got this. You believe it, the world will.

As she trudged into her hotel room, tossing her purse to the side, she was greeted to the sounds of her hotel television blaring some generic music. Another ad for some useless product. Her sister, Amanda, and Alex were sprawled out on the bed, the little one fast asleep. With a chuckle, Kia collapsed beside her sister. "What are we watching?" Amanda shrugged and wrinkled her nose in disgust.

"You're watching Charlie and the fucking Chocolate Factory, I'm outta here." She climbed off the bed with a sigh, as if it was a mass effort. As she turned she caught her sister's disapproving glare. "What? He's asleep. And that movie was the only thing close to good for kids. I did want to watch porn...''

"AMANDA! That is foul! Get outta here you dirty little..."  She threw a pillow at her sister's retreating form, who just threw her arms in the air as a calling of truce.

"I'm going! On the plus side... it's the Johnny Depp version. Almost as good as porn" Another look, and picking up of another pillow sent Amanda on her way leaving just Kia to watch the movie as it returned from commercial. Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka kinda creeped her out a little, but he was still sexy. Settling in on the bed she sighed. Being alone definitely gave you time to psycho analyse yourself, and Kia found herself getting more and more freaked out at the idea of her first Pay Per View, her first title shot... and the prospect of the first reign as champion. That of course sent the 'what if's' spiralling through that pretty blonde head of hers. What if she screws up bad? She's the one who loses the match? Let's down her family that was flying in from South Dakota to see her. Thinking can sometimes make you sleepy, and as Kia got more lost in her own thoughts, she slowly began to drift into a restless sleep, worrying what the week will bring.

She awoke what felt like seconds later to find that she was no longer in the comfort of her hotel, but a shabby little hut with the rancid smell of boiled cabbage lingering in the air. Alex was no longer beside me, but instead old people in haggard clothing. The scary part was, it was her friends; Blake, Kevin and Chris, aged about fifty years.

"What's going on... where am I?" The haggard old Kevin reached over and placed a hand on her forehead as if he was feeling her temperature. She swatted him away quickly, still looking around in confusion.

"Oh the poor dear must be delusional from hunger. Give her another bowl of cabbage soup." Old Chris approached her with a bowl of stinking green water and placed it under her nose, urging her to drink. She nearly gagged at the smell and pushed it away quickly.

"No thankyou, I'm not hungry. Where's Alex? What are you all doing here, who are you?"

"We are you’re family, you know that. You've only lived here with us your whole life. And who is this Alex?" At that, she started to panic. Where was he, and what in the pink flamingo hell was going on. Everything had changed, and definitely not in a good way.

"Alright, this is starting to get really weird, what on earth are you all talking about?"

The old man with the "soup" had backed away from the bed she was laying in, and an old woman had taken his place. You'd recognize this old woman anywhere. The platnium blond hair, piercing green eyes. Even as a grandmother, Summer Fox still owned the world in the looks department. She was shaking her head at Kia, clicking her tongue impatiently.

"Summer? What are you doing in my room?"

''Actually, it’s the family hut but we won’t go into that...wait Summer? My name’s Betty''

"What the hell is going on here?!" Some form of blasphomy coming from Kia? Things were definitely getting too weird for her, she was starting to lose her cool.

"Are you alright? You seem slightly disturbed."

"You think? One minute I’m laying in my hotel room bed, watching some movie and the next thing I wake up in this shit... excuse me, place with you standing over me telling me I’m in your house. So yeah, slightly disturbed is an understatement. Someone tell me what the fuck is going on before I go off on someone." Oooh the F word. She's pissed.

"Wow! Little Miss Innocent finally got some bite in her! About damn time, you have always let people walk all over you. Don't you remember, you got the Golden Ticket. You're on your way to the prize!"

"At On the Edge on Sunday, thank you Captain Obvious. And what’s this ticket got to do with it?"

"No, you won the last of five golden tickets."

"Okay, this is seriously some messed up stuff right here. I didn’t win any ticket; I got booked in a match, for the WGEF Women's title. Is that the prize you mean? I'm so lost right now... this all seems so familiar though. I’ve seen this somewhere before and...HOLY CRAP! What am I wearing?" Instead of the jeans and singlet top she was wearing originally, it was like some olden day street kid had swapped clothes with her It was a dirty and torn shirt, and really ugly brown pants. She looked like a vagabond.

"Well you have to get up anyway, we’ve got to get going" Summer tugged at the bedcovers impatiently, urging Kia to get up. She finally rolled out of the bed and followed Summer... err Betty, still taking everything in with a confused look.

"What is going on here!?"

"I don’t know what’s wrong with you but we better get going."

"Will someone PLEASE tell me where we are going?"

"To the factory stupid."

"Oh no, you did not just call me stupid. I should go all Zohan on your butt right now, but I’m just going to wait until I find out exactly what is going on."

"What the hell is a Zohan?" She shrugged, not listenting to Kia's response. Nothing unusual really. So they’d gotten Kia out of bed, and now Summer...sorry Betty was dragging her to some random factory. All this gibberish about golden tickets was really starting to do her head in. She didn't have time for this. She had to focus on On the Edge, the title, and the opponents. At the same time, she was intrigued by this crazy alternate reality. But when I see the factory...damn that was the icing on the cake. It was huge... and had the WGEF logo stamped on all it's chimneys, and the building itself.. This was getting weirder by the second. The front of the factory was lined with giant wrought iron gates, and the opening decorated with the same logo. In front of the gates, a group of people gathered, and as we approached they all turned to see what was going on.

"Alright, what is this? Okay, whoever set this all up, you can come out now. Ha ha, you got me. Very funny, now where is the camera so I can pretend this whole set up hasn’t irritated me in the slightest." The group looked over in disgust at her outburst, very unlike the quiet Kia they had all seen about. As they did so, she got a good look at each person. There was a fat brunette, who bore a striking resemblence to Britney Jericho, but three hundred pounds heavier than usual. And she was shovelling chocolate into her mouth at lightning fast speed. Next to her stood a little blonde girl, with heinous regrowth mind you, who was babbling on about something or other. How she was going to win some random prize because everyone said she couldn’t. No one believed in her, she deserved it the most... yada yada yada. Kia stared at her for a moment, before she realised who she reminded me of. "Ivy? The wannabe Trish?" She just glared at Kia, then went back to her senseless babble. Like Kia would know what she was saying. She barely paid attention to the real Ivy, like a clone of her would be any different.

"What an annoying little bitch that one is." Betty indicated to a raven haired girl who was primping and preening, not paying any attention to those around her. In fact, she was talking into her mirror and telling herself how great she was. "Listen to her... God you beat a few nobodies and then all of a sudden you're HBIC. At least you think you are. We all know where girls like her end up" Kia shrugged, eying off the final member of the group. She looked like she was itching to get this thing going, much like Kia was. As she went to approach her, she seemed the one most likely to tell her what was going on, a giggle could be heard blaring in the background. Music soon took it's place.

"Trish? Trish Stratus-Copes? What the..."

"Trish? What are you talking about, it's the owners of the factory!" Oh...kay then. That was weird. A roll of carpet is being rolled out from the large doors of the factory to the gates by little orange men, with little replica championship belts around their waists, you know like little kids play with, and hella massive noses.

"Oh my God, those little midgets look like Deacon Havok!. What is going on?" The Deacon midgets continued rolling the carpet out as two women in matching pink suits and hats strolled down towards the gate. There was no doubt, it was the owners, Trish and Kaylee! Neither said a word, just nodded to each other and opened the gates, allowing the five to enter. The other four women ran ahead, elbowing and tripping each other as they went. Kia strolled along lazily at the back of the pack, watching the others go before her. They were led inside the factory to a large room, which looked eerily like the main floor of Willy Wonka’s factory in Charlie and the Chocolate factory. That’s where Kia had seen all of this before. The midgets, the people, the factory. This was a tricked out version of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. "I’m delusional. I have been working waaaay too hard. Eh, well the way the story goes a person accidentally gets eliminated as the tour goes. And the first to go was..."

She looked around at the other four and spot the fat Britney, kneeling in front of a white flowing river. She is feverishly drinking from it, but something wasn’t right. The river in Charlie and the Chocolate factory was made of chocolate. And that is not chocolate. "This tastes really good, but like I’ve had it before. Where have I tasted it before though?" Kia still trying to work out what it is as well, that is until she sees Chris Orton emerging from behind a tree awfully close to where the river starts, followed closely by Brooke Adams wiping her mouth. Both looked pretty damn satisfied and... OH MY GOD! She just worked out what that white river was. Britney is drinking that stuff like there is no tomorrow. God that is so messed up. Still true though, she's too busy being a cum guzzler, literally, to notice that there was a competition going on around her. But then it hit Kia like a ton of bricks. In the original story the fat kid falls into the river of chocolate which he eats all the time. So in this messed up version, Britney must have to fall into the river of.... well, I think you’ve all worked it out. But she wasn’t anywhere near falling in, and out of contention to this big prize everyone seemed so eager to win. As they say, sometimes people need a little push. And that’s exactly what Kia gave her. A swift kick up the ass which sent her flying into the river. Well, if there’s a prize Kia was sure as hell not going to let these girls take it out over her. The splash made by Britney drew everyone’s attention towards me and the empty spot where Britney had been crouched only moments earlier.

"She fell. Honestly, one minute she was drinking that...eew... stuff and then, plop, in she went. I had nothing to do with it." Trish and Kaylee both shrugged.

"Doesn’t matter, was a waste of space anyway. Let’s move along shall we? Kaylee just sneered at the river as they continued to lead the group. The Deacon/Oompa Loompas just did a strange little song and dance as they stared at the river. Betty nudged Kia with a devious wink.

"You pushed her, I saw it. I'm proud, you're learning to do whatever it takes to win. Keep it up and the prize is yours"

"It didn't feel right, but I supppose it doesn't matter. They said she'd be fine. She won't die, she's used to that stuff. Besides, it’s just one less I gotta beat out to win the prize. No one is standing in my way. Now if I remember rightly, the bubblegum came next. And..."

"The annoying little brat who doesn't stop running her mouth" She indicated over to Ivy, who stood next to the raven haired girl, ande was still jabbering on about how she was going to win and blah blah blah...this girl never shuts up. That’s it. The next kid was the one who was always going on about how great she was. But this ain’t no candy factory. So what would it be instead of bubblegum? God only knows. Our little tour group follows our leaders along a long, thin corridor. Kia was deep in thought, how was she gonna keep this the same. The girl turns blue, so she would have to turn Ivy the same color. Although Ivy probably could manage to do that by herself. Every big match situation; case and point Showtime, she managed to choke. So with long winded spiel after long winded spiel... hopefully she'll choke on her own words. Or Kia's foot down her throat. She cast a glance at Ivy... who was still talking. Her whiny little voice was killing Kia's ears.

"I have to most passion, I'm going to win because I'm so determined, and so focused. The others don't have any idea..."

"Oh my God SHUT UP! No one cares. You haven’t got a hope of beating Britney for this so called prize, because everyone knows you choke on the big stage, and she’s already neck deep in a substance she’s extremely familiar with. So if you haven’t got a hope with her, what hope have you got with the rest of us who actually give some decent competition!" Kia's outburst had caused everyone to now pay attention to me, all with disgusted looks. Except Kaylee and Trish, who were laughing hysterically. See, they agreed with her.

"Yeah right, you're too busy off being a slut to care about this match'' Ivy sneered in some lame attempt to sound tough. Kia laughed and rolled her eyes. It was her dream, so her confidence was high.

"Real original, coming from a girl who stole someone else's boyfriend while they were in hosptial. But then again Ivy Stratus, just brimming with originality. And you call me a wanna be. How lame."  Ivy fumed, and looked ready to lounge at the brazen blonde, who just shrugged and waved her hand as if to say bring it. Trish stepped between the two.

"Not now, neither of you are ready for this. Save it for later" Kia stepped back with a smile. Trish was right, save it for Sunday. Beating her then would be all that much sweeter than doing it in some dream. But Ivy shoved Trish to the side and charged at Kia. Seeing her coming, Kia stepped back and launched a kick right to Ivy's face, knocking a few teeth loose. One must have come out, because all of a sudden Ivy was making horrid noises and her face was slowly turning blue. She collapsed to the ground, clutching her throat and spasming, soon going limp. A small amount of what was left in her mouth, blood and teeth mainly dribbled out.

"Oops, guess I dont know my own strength"

"I warned her, but she never seemed to listen. Serves her right." Again, the owners just shrugged and waved the group along. Looking at the other two in front of her, Kia was still trying to figure out what’s going to happen next.

"Took you long enough to figure out what was going on"

"It would have been so much easier if you had of told me from the beginning what was going on."

"Where's the fun in that?"

"Shut up! Right now, I have to work out who is next. So the fat kid’s gone, and the over-achiever. Next is...who is it?" She looked around, and noticed the dark haired girl still primping in her handheld mirror.

"I am the greatest, I haven't lost yet. I beat Angela Stewart, Kirsten Stratus, Michelle McCool and... and some others" No one of any note obviously. The whinging brat, in this version it is the one and only Adalyn Raine. Now Kia could see where the I am so great was coming from. She was on an undefeated streak, whoopdie do, did she beat anyone of note? Probably not. If she did, we would know. Damn, even in this alternate universe we can’t get away from people who think they're top shit after a few measly wins. Kia had a winning streak, hear her bragging. Of course not. Because they don't matter. You're only as good as your next match. Now, in the original, the little brat gets thrown down the garbage chute. So here... Kia spotted a dumpster just below the closest window. Trying to keep her voice low, she grabs Adalyn's attention with a sweet smile.

"Hey Adalyn, come look at this. Michelle McCool's out there mouthing off about you. I reckon you could drop something and hit her, it would be a laugh. Go on, give it a go." She looks wary, but any chance to possible harm the former Diva Search diva was too tempting to pass up. So she makes her way back to the window and leans out to get a better look. With that, Kia grabbed her by the legs and tipped her out headfirst into the dumpster below. She falls with a thud on a pile of rotten food. Eww. So with only the one who looks like she could present any form of challenge left, Kia was coming so much closer to figuring out what was going on. This is the one that the kid gets shrunk. Was shrunk even a word? Who knows but in the movie the kid tries to play with some weird machine and gets all pixelated and stuff. Kinda like he's blown to pieces. The television thing. And with only Tapanga, the champ herself left.... it was now or never. The prize was just within her reach. As the owners lead them to the final room, Betty leant in and whispered in her ear.

"You can do this, you came so close last time. Just give it that little extra and the prize is yours"

"What do I do though? I gave it everything last time, I'm at a loss!"

"No you're not. Think hard." She thought about it. In the movie, he rushes to the TV to test it. But unlike the others, nothing in this part even remotely connected. This one was different, it was going to be the real test of will, wit and survival. She had to out thinkthe final challenger in this race to the finish. Before she could process, she was diving at Tapanga, pushing her towards the center of the room. She hadn't taken in her surroundings this time, but instead went the way of the champ, unpredictable. She shoved her roughly, watching as the champ fell to the ground. She felt Betty place something cold in her hands, and looked down. This was a little too far, she had placed a pretty powerful weapon into Kia's hands. "How far will you go to win, Kia? You gotta do what you gotta do to come out on top." Squeezing her eyes shut, she lifted the shotgun and pulled the trigger... sending Tapanga parts in all different directions. Kinda like she was pixelated and being moved from one side of the room to the other... just like in the movie. The shot caught the owner's attention, who turned to see Kia standing alone in the middle of the room.

"Where did everyone else go? Are you the only one left?"

"There were a few..."accidents" but I survived. I’m the last one standing, as it will be on Sunday. Kia Mitchell reigning supreme."

Just as Kia was about to be presented with her prize, she felt something hit her in the back of the head and slumped to the ground in a heap. When she finally opened my eyes again, she wasn’t in that weird factory, but back in her hotel room. The credits of the movie were rolling. Chris was standing over her with a smirk.

"What is going on? How did I get back here?" She sat up on the bed and looked around to see Alex tucked into his travel cot, sleeping peacefully.

"Musta been some crazy dream babe, I've been back for an hour and you've been sleeping this whole time." Sleeping? That was all a dream?

"Yeah, kinda crazy. You were in it. It was freaky, but actually kind of prophetic, in a funny way." His smirk grew wider.

"Oh really? And what was I doing in this dream with my fiancee, anything exciting?"

"No, not really. I was dreaming that I was that little Charlie kid and I went to this random factory run by Trish and Kaylee. The Divas from the Pay Per View match were there, you know the one’s I’m meant to be facing on Sunday. And I got rid of all of them for the prize. I was knocking them around left, right and centre. I drowned Britney, made Ivy choke and threw Adalyn from a window into a dumpster. All in all, it was pretty entertaining. And true... kinda"

"Sounds like you know what you want to do on Sunday then, you seem so ready now. Funny a dream gives you this confidence. "

"Yeah, it did. Kind of got me in the mood for Sunday, you know. So I'm going to be out there to make my dream, quite literally come true. Look out New York, I’m coming for that title."

chapter1; just.a.small.town.girl

When I first agreed to be the one to conduct this interview, I honestly did not know what to expect. You've heard all the opinions, and the social circle she keeps indictated that this was not going to be an easy task, but at the same time I was intrigued. Who was this girl that broke out of the shadow of a legend and became recognizable in her own right? Just who was Kia Mitchell? I looked down at my watch, with five minutes until the agreed meeting time, I made myself comfortable. I'd interviewed her boss, and associate, Summer Fox before and figured if she was anything like the self proclaimed Queen as everyone says she was, I'd be waiting a while. No sooner had I pulled my recorder from my bag, the young blonde breezed through the door with a smile that could light up any room. She had her young son, who she is rarely without, resting on her hip and a bag on the other shoulder. She looked like she'd just stepped off of a runway in simple skinny jeans tucked into flat boots and white singlet top, her long blonde hair pulled up into a messy ponytail. But at the same time, she had this sweet charm about her as she warmly thanked me for taking time to do the interview and apologised profusely for having her son with her. Already the idea of her being a carbon copy of the infamous Queen had been dismissed. This girl was genuine. She looked me in the eye, shook my hand and settled into the chair opposite me. As I finished setting up, she attended to the young boy who was a spitting image of her, the big blue eyes and intoxicating smile. Just watching her intrigued me further, this was one side of the girl we would see in the championship scramble, one of five who hoped to take home the gold. So we were both ready, she sat elegantly crossed legged in the chair as I finally got it under way... time to get into the mind of this small town beauty.

WGEFmag; First of all, I want to thank you for taking time to sit down with us today. I know you must be extremely busy with On the Edge just a week a way. You nervous?

km; You have no idea! This is my first Pay Per View appearance... like ever, not to mention my first title shot. On the Edge will definitely be a night of firsts. And that's enough to make any person nervous. But nerves are good, as long as they don't drive you insane. I haven't gotten to crazy yet!

WGEFmag; That's good to hear. Before we get into the Pay Per View, we all want to know about you. You have appeared from practically nowhere and been thrust into the limelight with four other women who have clearly had their share of fame. It's literally like you've just appeared on our televisions, and a majority of the world; not to mention the roster, has fallen in love with you.

km; Hardly in love with me! I had a small fan base from my brief training stint in XCWA and my time with Derek [Manning, her ex-husband], but I'm no where near fanatical status. People know me as Summer's personal assistant, the way I came into this business. The girl that followed around thee Summer Fox. Maybe if I win at On the Edge that will change [laughs]I doubt some people's perceptions will change though. But that's their perogative. I've kind of always been here. Just in the background. It's the way it's always been. And I've been happy with that. I'm still happy with that. I'm used to not being the center of attention, with my loud sisters, Summer, you know? And in a way I think it helps me. People don't know what to expect from me because I keep it so low key. I don't need to badmouth people to make any sort of statement, the way some people go about it. I just go in there and do what I do. I put it all into going out there and coming out on top. Sunday is no exception. I'm considered somewhat of a 'dark horse' of the wrestling world if you will. Just simply because I don't need to be the focus of attention going into a match. Coming out of one, that's another story. You're always the center when you're getting your arm raised in victory. Fingers crossed that's the way it ends up hey?

WGEFmag; I, for one, hope it does. You seem like a down to earth young woman. A lot of people find it somewhat, strange, that you're associated with the likes of Summer Fox, who has been labelled as a rather disliked person both on screen and backstage. Then we have you, one who seems to shy away from the whole 'Diva' image, what's the go with that? It just seems like an unusual friendship. But then again, your rise to wrestling stardom hasn't been the most conventional. You started as the personal assistant to Summer Fox, and it all went from there. Tell us a bit about it.

km; Fate, one would assume. One day I'm a student at UCLA looking in a Louis Vutton store on Rodeo Drive as a bit of a joke, just to pass some time. Now I'm here, getting to take part in what will be an epic match for a coveted title against four very talented women. It was just meant to happen. Some of it was a bit rough, but you get that in this business and in life. Here was me thinking I'd be the girl carrying the schedule around, keeping the business side of things in check... and I just fell in love with the business. Didn't help I fell in love with a superstar from SWF [the company which first discovered Kia] It was where I met Derek, and it was him that got me into it all. Also got me kidnapped, double teamed, beat up and betrayed.. all in my first week. A real eye opener to the business, but definitely toughened me up for the road ahead. So I suppose I should be thanking him for giving me this opportunity. and for giving me the single greatest blessing of my life in Alex. It's funny, after we divorced, I swore I would never get involved with another wrestler. But hey, that's out the window. As for my 'unusual' friendships? The personas you see on TV are nothing like the people that I know and love. I mean, both Blake and Summer come off as cruel, heartless people who care about nothing but themselves... but I've never seen two people so in love with each other as those two. It's like bi-polar. Blake would kill someone as soon as look at them, but when it comes to 'his princess', he's just the sweetest thing. Same with her, the Ice Queen persona just melts when she's with him... or talking about him. Thinking about him. Anything to do with him really. It's not always what you see is what you get. Just like with me, I'm full of surprises. These are the people fate sent me, and I'm so damn thankful for that. I see Summer like a sister, because she's not 'the Queen of Mean' [a nickname given to her by former partner Gregory James] when we hang out, she's just Summer, my best friend. Everyone's perception of people is different. People see me as trying to be a carbon copy of Sum, but that couldn't be furthr from the truth. We are two completely different people who just clicked. We share a visual similarity, the blonde hair mainly, and all of a sudden I'm trying to be like them. Which is strange, because I don't see myself parading around like a Queen like she does, but whatever. If I do, I deserve to be slapped because I'm still paying my dues. I want to shake that image, but I doubt it. Some people are so narrow minded, they can't see past the things they want to see. And nine times out of ten, it's the hypocrites that try to model themselves around people they want to be. Take a look at some of the roster, you'll see what I mean. The only thing I want to be anything similar to Summer is her wrestling ability. I want to be that good... if not better. And a first title reign would definitely get that train rolling. And they all support me one hundred percent, as any friends do. Especially Chris, he's been amazingly supportive, especially since he has his own title match to focus on, he still takes the time to make sure I'm ready for this. Something Derek never did, he never cared about me.

WGEFmag; Ah yes, the fiancee. Let's talk about that. Chris McKenzie and Kia Mitchell again seems like an odd pairing, but still seems to work. How come?

km; Because we make it work. He has so much love for Alex [she indicates to the boy playing quietly on the floor beside her] which was a big thing, because he is my life outside the ring, and he's just so genuine. I know that everyone thinks I'm just the latest in succession of his chain of women, but like I said, I don't care what people say. They don't understand, and they never will. So don't even try. Let the haters talk smack, as some would say. It just comes down to what you think and feel within yourself. Self belief is the ticket to success.

WGEFmag; Inspiring words. So we can assume you believe you will walk out the WGEF Women's champion at On the Edge? You've got some stiff competition. You recently suffered a defeat at the hands of Tapanga Britt, and Adalyn Raine has been rolling. Your thoughts?

km; I'm going into the Scramble with the thought that I can do this, I can walk out on top. Friday Night was my benchmark test. I didn't win, but I damn sure took it to the champ didn't I? And I can only go up from there. I can't go in there comparing myself to the other girls. Because I'm not them, I'm nothing like them. I'm just me and that's all I can be. So I give it all I can and let the others worry about what they do. Some seem to be more concerned where my head is at more so than there own. That's the downfall in the end. You can only do so much, which is why I've been relatively quiet about the opponents. Been working three times as hard with Summer, Chris and Kevin [Sane], who are all certain that this is my time. And I'm certain too. I've never been more focused on anything than on that belt, this match and the win. Not to mention my motivation. [she patted her son's head lightly] Every match, win or lose, is for this one right here. It's the biggest motivator in my life. The success, the glory, the accolaides... nothing compared to my biggest achievement. But not to say I'd look a gift horse in the mouth if I did win.

WGEFmag; Well what goes into such a match, preparation wise? We see people doing interviews and their promotionals, etcetera, but we don't get to see what goes on behind the scenes. Can you give us any insight to what it's like just before going out in front of thousands of live people, and millions around the world?

km; It's such an incredible rush, and I think it will be multiplied by like a thousand come On the Edge. It's such a massive deal, the top prize of the Women's division so a hell of a lot goes into it. The stuff you see, you expect. Except the claws really seem to come out tenfold when gold is involved, people find the tiniest, most insignificant things to magnify and it's actually kind of funny. In a really sad way. Big matches seem to bring out everyone's insecurities, whether they like it or not. So it's not just the physical prep you gotta look at, it's psychological. You gotta be ready, because not only will they bring the in-ring talent, they bring the mind games. The ways they break you down before you step into the ring with them. A lot of the preparation is blocking that stuff out. It's insignificant. And if it's not mind games, it's being underestimated. But it's cool, I'm the underdog. And I like it that way. No where near as much pressure. [she laughs lightly]

WGEFmag; Let's take a closer look at the match a little closer. It's quite a tangled little web of histories. You've got the champ, who's beaten everyone except Adalyn Raine simply due to the fact they haven't faced each other. You've got people with strong alliegences to each other, and some enemies. Adalyn's undefeated, Britney's disappeared off the radar and Ivy's biggest claim to fame was drawing with your mentor Summer Fox...

km; That was a joke and a half. If you knew what went on behind the scenes, you'd understand what happened. Summer's not one for excuses, and neither am I, but the outcome was due to some backstage issues between Miss Fox and some members of staff. Had time been on her side, the end would have been completely different. It's a well documented fact. Ask Trish and Kaylee, they'll tell you straight up. So there is nothing to brag about in a hollow draw, not even a victory. And a personal message from Summer, if Ivy wants to continue to leech off of it and pop off at the mouth, she should put her money where her mouth is after the Pay Per View.. She'll have plenty of time because there is no chance she's walking out with the Women's title. And that's all I'm going to say on that.

WGEFmag; ..Yes, well there you go. You answered one of my of my questions. Now for what I would guess would be a standard question. Biggest threat?

km; Each woman is a threat in her own right. There's five of us in one highly combustible element. Anything can and will happen. So it would be wrong for me to say that one would be more significant than the others. But if I had to, I'd say Tapanga. I have so much respect for her, she's done great things with that title. She deserves every ounce of respect she's earned. Not to mention she's annihilated two of her four opponents, and beaten me. So she is the mark for this match. Most would say Adalyn, but she's been non-exsistant for a few weeks. Not discounting Britney or Ivy though, but the thing is they've produced no evidence to the contrary that they're any better than half the Divas who didn't get a look into the title match. Let's look at it logically. Ivy faced Tapanga in a tag team match at Showtime, the last Pay Per View, and got completely destroyed by her I faced Tapanga on Fight Night and was only a second away from beating her. Already seeing the comparison? For those who think I'm not a legitimate contender, and seem to enjoy living in the past, take a look at the records. They're much of a muchness between most of the competitors. So for people to run their mouths is pretty silly, because they're in the exact same boat. We've all got something to prove, all got the insecurities and all got the haters who think we can't do it. The only difference is that I am going to walk out with the Women's Championship on my shoulder and join the ranks of the great champions before me.

WGEFmag; So you and Chris McKenzie, the King and Queen of the WGEF?

km; [she laughed] Chris is already the king, and I know he'll come out of the Elimination Chamber still with the title. I believe in him, just like he believes in me. I just pray he comes out in one piece. Five angry superstars gunning for him, can't end well. I'm nowhere near the Queen, I can't think of myself as royalty. Whether I'm still clawing my way up the ranks, or the new Women's champion I'll always be Kia from Pine Ridge. The small town girl who somehow ended up mixed up in this crazy business. And I am so thankful for that.

WGEFmag; And I'm sure there are many fans that are thankful for you being a part of the WGEF, and I sure am for you taking the time to sit down with me today. Good luck on Sunday!

km; Not a problem, it was fun. And I'm sure there are going to be four people who aren't so thankful once the scramble is over.

And there you have it. There was not a bad word I could say about this girl. She'd even slowly coaxed me into rooting for her this Sunday with that killer smile and charming laugh. She definitely was just a small town girl who got mixed up in this world through fate, and boy are we glad that she did. Will her long and arduous road take her to the Women's Title? Only time will tell. Until then, we'll definitely be keeping our eye on the dark horse of the Championship Scramble.

chapter3; right.on.target.

So isn't this an interesting turn of events? ... No, not really.  Adalyn decided she wanted to play, and Tapanga... got drunk. The others? Well, we all know that Britney was a no show from day one... and Ivy? Who the fuck cares. Wow. This is what we're coming to in a Women's title match, kind of sad to be honest. But whatever, it's not about them and their oh so generic attacks. It's about the new Women's Champion. That's right, the new champ. Where did this sudden confidence come from? From the fact that in the midst of that drunken rambling, Tapanga Britt said something that pissed Kia off to the max.  Gave her a whole new objective in this match. To most it would be insignificant, but it was a touchy subject for her. It gave her more than just proving the world wrong. Now, it was a matter of pride.

She stood in the quietest corner of the gym, swinging wildly at the punching bag as sweat ran down her face. People recognized her, hard to miss the tiny figure in pink shorts and black tank top and a mass of blond hair even if it was pulled up into a messy bun, but noticed she didn't look like she'd apprieciate being approached for pictures and autographs. Add in the fact that Summer was there barking orders and shooting menacing glares at anyone who even looked like they were thinking about approaching her. Kia was oblivious to it all. The only sounds she could hear was her breathing, the thudding of fists agains the bag and Summer motivating her by mimicking the champion's latest ramblings. She hadn't hit the sore spot yet, but she knew that to use it would unleash the anger that Kia needed to take down.

>_<

"Come on, you hit like a little blondie... I would know because I'm blonde too. But it's different because I have pink and black in it! It's totally different!" Summer tightened her grip on the bag as Kia punched a little faster. "BARBIE! You and your fake tits... that mine are biger and look more plastic than Barbie herself... It's so sad that that's our champion. Claiming she's the greatest champion ever... bullshit. She's been the champ for what, a month? Puh-leeeease.

"Shut up! Now you're starting to make me laugh!"

"It's so lame, your sister was right. Walking hypocrites are us, maybe she's just airing her insecurities about herself through you because she knows you can and will beat her...

"Then what's her obsession with California? She's from Texas."

"See my point, if I was from Texas I'd be totally jealous of people who got out of the sticks and into the real world. But honestly, does she even think before she speaks, or just let the verbal diahorrea flow. I think it would be the latter because retardation that thick can't come from thinking." Kia tried to contain the laughter, but it didn't work. A small giggle escaped. Summer was right though, all Tapanga had again was attacking where she currently resided. Oh and what she looked like. Which is ironic because she too was a blonde, rather large chested [definitely bigger than Kia's] woman. Strange. That's her brain on drugs one would suppose. Then again, maybe that's all she's got in her repotoire. She says it every, single time. Issues, much?

"I can be just like her too... stupid horsefaced bitch."

"I know right. It's funny, she gets all up her own ass when you say she's generic...

"I said that? Gee, I must be talented to say stuff without actually saying it. People must be getting us confused again."

"Ha! as if you could get us confused. You're too nice. But seriously, truth hurts. If she honestly wants to play stereotype cards, look in the mirror. The alternative thing has soooo been done to death. No one believes it anymore. Now hit harder, you're a waste of space in this match you dont deserve it" The thuds got heavier and in quick succession. Summer poked her head around the bag to watch Kia's reaction. "HIT HARDER MANNING"

Kia froze, her face contorting in anger.

"What did you just call me?"

"You heard me, Kia Manning. That's all your known as. Mrs Manning, Derek's ex wife. So hit the fucking bag again Manning."  Kia swung again, missing the bag completely but hitting Summer square in the face. "Son of a bitch! What the hell was that for?!?"

"You called me the one name that offends me. These little bitches can call me a barbie, a fake, a whore until the fucking cows come home. Tell me I don't stand a chance, that I don't deserve this shot. They can say my relationship with my fiancee is a power game, to further myself. How that works I have no idea, but whatever. But it doesn't matter because I know who I am, and the people who matter know who I am.It's not a big deal to me what these silly little girls say.  Third grade name calling went out with the punk fad."

"Seems someone missed the memo."

"Whatever. But you associate me with that dog, you want to get personal with things like that and you're taking it to a whole new level. I could do the exact same thing... wasn't she stuffing around with some Johnny guy back in OCW and XCWA, and he ditched her so she moved on... story sound familiar much? Yet she's still attacking someone else about basically the same thing. But whatever, I'm not like her. Sorry for hitting you, at that stage I was seeing a certain loose-lipped champion. I know she said it and believe me, once I get in the ring with her it'll be more than that pissy punch to the face. I'm going to walk out of there with her title, and successfully leaving her black, red and blue."

"The vicious Kia, haven't seen this side before. This is what we needed, the sweet and innocent wasn't going to cut it in a cutthroat situation like a scramble. If you go out there, fuck what the world thinks, and destroy anything that moves, you will walk out number one."

"I'm walking out number one no matter what." Kia went back to swinging at the back, the punches harder and in quicker succession, until Summer pulled the bag aside.

"I'm bored with this. Go get changed." Summer waved Kia toward the changeroons as she headed to her own bag and pulled out her cellphone. As she waited, she mad a few calls. As she hung up, Kia emerged from the changerooms freshly showered, but still dressed for training in tracksuit pants and tee shirt. Summer looked her up and down, shaking her head.

"What?"

"We're done here... I said I was bored."

"I know. But this is my biggest match thus far. I'm not going to go that easily on myself. This scramble is survival of the fittest, and I'm going to show the world that. Camera crew is meeting us there."

"Well okay, let's go." Summer shrugged and grabbed her bags, following her protegee out the door as the scene faded.

_____

"This is your big idea... what the?" Summer looked at the old building, confused. Kia was chuckling as she lead Summer inside. Instead of matching the rundown exterior, inside was quite done up. There was an entrance to a complex looking maze, and a reception desk. "Nice, I get where we're going with this."

"Ingenious huh? Paintballing is amazing. I'm going to get suited up, see you in there"

"I'm not going in there, as if you'd get me doing something this barbaric." Summer shook her head. "Have fun..." She watched Kia head into the briefing area behind the owner.

Moments later the scene re-opens with just Kia standing at the entrance of the maze. This was the first time we have actually seen the blonde beauty on our screens, so get excited. She was dressed in oversized overalls, stained with paint and the protective goggles resting on top of her head. With a smile she lifted the paintball gun into frame with a sweet smile.

"Survival of the fittesst. It's a fact of everyday life. People do anything they can to survive the rat race of life. They'll lie, cheat, steal, backstab and belittle anything that stands in the path of them and the ultimate goal. Just like my opponents in this Championship Scramble. All they've done is bitch and moan about how people who are in this match don't deserve it because of the way they look, their personal life or something else just as ridiculous. Whatever happened to surviving on pure instinct? Well, that's not dead. I'm going into this match and I'm going to survive purely on my instincts and in ring talent. I don't want to follow suit and run my mouth, thinking that this will win me the title. I'm not going to say that I deserve this more than anyone else, because I don't. But I do deserve that title. Because I have busted my ass to get where I am. Not just in WGEF, but in other companies as well. I've been battered and bruised by some of the best the business has to offer. Katlyn Chase, Kristine Rampage, Michael Harris for God's sake. So five girls, should be a cakewalk in logical terms. But it's not, instinct alone tells me that." She pulled the goggles down over her eyes and headed into the maze. She crept slowly around corners, whispering as she kept an eye out for any opponents.

"This match is a crap shoot. Anyone could come at you at any time. You've got to be ready for someone to come out of nowhere and... ah!" She squealed as a fellow overall clad shooter jumped out from around the corner and began shooting wildly. Her aim was poor, she didn't really have much on an idea on how the gun worked. Kia dodged and ducked and fired a few shots of her own, nailing the opponent in the chest a few times. "See what I mean! I got lucky, this one didn't know what she was doing. She was unprepared when she attacked and paid for it in the end. Kind of like Britney Jericho. She was never prepared to be involved of a match of this caliber, and decided to keep her mouth shut. I applaud that, maybe she'll let her actions speak louder than any trash talk she could come up with. From what I saw of her, it wouldn't have been much. But you can't count her out, she could surprise us like this one did. Doubt it, but it could happen." She continued through the maze cautiously, stopping when she heard scuffling up ahead. Shots were fired and a scream was heard followed by angry yelling.

"Hey! I thought you said we were going to take the others out together!" Kia shook her head, stifiling laughter with her hands. Seems some had friendships and alliegances going in and one was stupid enough to believe that would last in the survival situation.

"Even friendships can't survive accomplishment. Sure, you'll go in as friends and maybe even try to eliminate the competition in order to further yourself. But alliances don't last in such a volatile environment. Adalyn proved it, she put the knife in Ivy's back by blatantly stating that Ivy couldn't win... which is totally true, but still. She has the chance to twist it in order to walk out on top. The champ doesn't have to be pinned to lose. What if one of those two had the opportunity to win by pinning the other? You don't think they won't take it? Of course they will. But not to worry, it won't come down to that. Because I'm the one who will come out of nowhere and take them both down." She jumped around the corner and pelted the arguing friends with paintballs with a laugh. "Gotta keep your eyes on the prize. Which is why I will walk out the WGEF Women's champion. Because I have never been more focused, more determined and more pissed off than I am right now. I'm sick and tired of people telling me I don't stand a chance, because everyone knows that's pure crap. Ivy's won, what, one match and all of a sudden she's the world's greatest. She beat Kirsten Stratus... my dead grandfather's left testicle could do that. And she still sees me as a bypass. Not like I honestly care, because I'll have the final laugh when she's laid out by my hand. Focus on that, bitch." Continuing through the maze, she watched the eliminated players trudge towards the exit. You could tell they were shocked, seems they'd been doing this for a while now and were shocked that the young girl blasted them so quickly. She was a surprise packet, pulling things out that no one knew she could do. She'd do that again Sunday, pulling out the win that only a few, her friends and family, believed she could. She believed she could and that's all that matters. Looking around for any more players, she heard a sound coming from behind her. How predictable, the sneak attack. About as predictable as a well rehearsed verbal onslaught from many of our WGEF divas, particularly championship contenders, or the champions themselves. The claws really come out when the top prize was involved. Insecure much? Kia hid, awaiting the predictable attacker.

"The time for talking is almost done. Soon one of us will have put up, and the rest will have to shut up. And I know for a fact that it won't be me shutting up. Because I will walk out as the new WGEF Women's champion, and join the ranks of greatness... and Tapanga Britt. Has she even defended the Women's title? Shows how much attention I pay to the "Predictable Sweetheart". Yeah, she's not unpredictable. This will be the second time around for us... so the second time around I get to hear the same old irrelevant arguments. She's about as unpredictable as a grahm cracker. A bit of country slang, a few gimmicky nicknames and a whole lot of babbling about God knows what. Wow, impressive. I know I said I respected you, and to an extent I do, but you want to get personal, lower yourself to the standard of the girls you supposedly hate, go ahead. Everyone already knows you're a hypocrite anyway, just adds to the predictablity. But know that I'm gunning for you, to rip that tongue from your mouth for even mentioning Derek Manning. That's the one thing about you that got my attention, that you would bring that into this. Know that I'm aiming for you, aiming to leave you laying and taking one of the things that's most precious." Ducking around the corner, she stalked the final prey, waiting for them to turn around. She wasn't a coward, she wouldn't attack from behind. She'll face them and take them out face to face. They finally turned around and found themselves staring down the barrel of the gun. Kia fired, nailing them right on target. She was the last woman standing, just as she would be at On the Edge. Waving mockingly as the final challenger stepped down from her path, she smiled into the camera and pulled the goggles from her eyes.

"See what I mean, you gotta be ready for anything. Even the least likely of challengers can best you and walk out the sole survivor. So keep an eye on all challengers, not just the ones you view as a significant threat. Because it's the one's that don't that will knock you off your pedastool and take the throne. Which is exactly what I have planned. This was just a basic demonstration, nothing like what you will see at the Pay Per View. But one thing is the same, you will see me, Kia Mitchell walk out as the new WGEF Women's Champion. End of story, see you Sunday."

And the scene fades on Kia leaving the maze.
