OOC Statement: Had to break into two...but it's one post.

phoenixhtml02_01.png picture by Focus2004

For the sake of competition right? That is what this is all about? What exactly? This whole concept of fighting. It is all about competition, at least to most. It is definitely all about that for Phoenix. Although she is set to face off against Paris Jior Sunday, she is not really focused on competing with her. Her whole sake of competition is for herself? What? Yeah that is probably the exact response that a lot of people get for that concept, but it really all makes sense if one takes time to sort it out. That is the problem with a lot of things that people do. They do not take the thing to think them through and get a clear understanding. Phoenix tries her hardest to bring people to a mutual understanding, but it just does not work. It is the very reason why she had to declare herself "misunderstood" just a few promos ago. But now, it is time to get down to business. It is business as usual really, and Phoenix just loves it. Want to talk about something being your life? This is her life!

x~. Test Me!

The great Muhammad Ali...got to love the guy. He was truly a pioneer in the sport of boxing. But just to break away from that for a second, this is not boxing. That was just a general statement that I figured should be made because people tend to get that mistaken sometimes. Drew Stevenson decided that he would bring in the great sport of football. Instead of picking one great athlete, he decided to bring in an entire team. He wanted to bring up the Pittsburgh Steelers and talk about their steel curtain defense. Of course, he was not exactly one that was necessarily comparable with the team, but to each their own. Now we bring in boxing. Could it be that these people just refuse to bring up the great sport of wrestling. After all, that is what we are actually involved with. Must we always go out and try to find someone in another sport and profession to attempt to follow in the footsteps of? Yeah, congratulations to Muhammad Ali for his great record that he accumulated over the years. But in this very sport that we are involved in right here, Phoenix has more wins than even the great Muhammad Ali. She has not yet surpassed his loss record, but if or when that time comes, she surely will not be any less of the athlete than she already is. Now when you think of Drew Stevenson and his steel curtain strategy, it made sense. He wanted to compare his defense to the great defense of a pretty much unstoppable team. Now you have a guy who was pretty cocky in his own right. Phoenix is not one to care or blame anyone for their ego, but let us just make a comparison here. The guy only lost 5 matches, which is next to nothing compared to how many he won. He will be remembered as the greatest fighter of all-time for quite some time to come, possibly forever considering who enters the sport. The guy only spoke of losing out of his disappointment in himself. Surely he had to think he was too good to be letting himself slip. Of course it happens, but any great athlete does what they can to make that happen as little as possible. With a record like his, he had great reasoning to assure that happened next to never...if not just never. Then Phoenix is a lot like the Muhammad of this whole wrestling thing..and that is not even focusing on the win/loss record. In fact...completely forget Phoenix's record. Forget that she wins a lot. It is not important, really. But Phoenix, as stated before, is all about speaking what she believes to be the truth. People have different truths in their life until it is made to be the truth. Phoenix tells people that she is coming to beat them and that is what she does. That then becomes the truth. However, they hate for her to tell them that, but is really just a simple warning. Strange for someone to quote Muhammad's way of joking was to tell the truth. If a person does not joke, then they are serious. Phoenix always says just how serious about the business she is. But it can safely be said that her way of joking is the truth as well, and there is not a thing yet that she has said that someone has proved her to be lying about. Want to test that...go for it....

Waiting....

Whenever people finally realize that Phoenix not only speaks the truth, but is the truth, the better off they will be. There goes that damn ego again right? Right! Phoenix has one. She says so herself. But why not? Muhammad Ali had one and people never bothered him about it. A man that says, "I am the greatest." That is boasting just like Phoenix is said to do. So until someone can prove to Phoenix any difference, she will wait on that one. At this rate, she would be waiting on a lot of things. There are too many contradicting things. You do not want people to boast, but you follow some who does the same thing? Again, Phoenix is basically a female equivalent of Mr. Ali, just in a different sport. Who knows though, maybe if she went into the world of boxing, things would be different? Maybe in the world of boxing, an ego happens to be a good thing. Maybe people accept it a bit better there instead of always pointing it out like it will change something. But come on people, do not celebrate too fast. Phoenix is going nowhere. The farthest she will go from this very point is Milan, Italy for the Whatever It Takes pay per view. Again, this sport is her life. She lives for the sport. She is one of those people who puts everything on the line for this business in every aspect and sense of the statement. She is one of those people that would not do well with a family. She was always doing something to better herself for the sport that she loved. Instead of people always going on about the way she is, perhaps the thing to do was to get like her. Always do something to better yourself. Always strive to get better. Applaud yourself for doing better. It is guaranteed that no one aside from the fans was going to do so, so why not give yourself a pat on the back for what you do. Phoenix sure was going to and nothing anyone said was going to stop her. She had been hearing for years that she talks about her winning. She had been hearing for years that she talks about her past accomplishments. People always wanted to bring up that it was about the future. True enough, but the future does not come until you get beyond the past. And added to that, the past is going to determine the future, thusly, she brings it up to give people a better glimpse of the future. If she was a champion back then, she will be a champion again. It is in her DNA to be a champion. For a person like her, championships come a dime a dozen. You get used to things like that. And why not? You had been doing this your entire career anyway, so it all goes like clockwork. And for her to have tasted gold so many times before, she knows the sweet taste it leaves in your mouth to have won gold before. So it is natural for someone like her to know and do whatever it takes to get back to living in that moment again. Notice the whatever it takes there?

Moving on...

See, wisdom comes with experience and it then brings about understanding. Phoenix was a very experienced wrestling, there was no doubt about that. With understanding that, it should be easy to understand that this wrestling thing was coming quite natural to her. It was all routine. You go to the ring, you beat people up. Again, it was the same as Mr. Ali again. He just beat people up. He did not care about anything other than that. He told you he was the greatest and then he beat your ass, in essence, beating into your head that he was greatest. It was the same thing with Phoenix. She never really went so far as to say she was the greatest. She never really told people she was better than them unless she just really wanted to get under someone's skin. But she only did that when she was facing someone she felt did not even belong in the same ring with her. That was not very often, but she had done it before...sue her. But of course, she was going to feel like she was better than the next person. Why not? Otherwise, she would get out there fighting like they were better than her and if the opponent was wise enough to pick up on it, she would lose just about every time. Now if this was her normal attitude going into a match..what was her attitude for the match Sunday? It was the exact same. As she stated in her previous promo, she did not switch up her styles according to matches. Now she was guilty of switching up her work ethic according to her opponents. If she felt she had to push herself a bit more, she would. Of course, she had really grown out of doing that after a while because she always wanted to push herself. It always resulted in better results out of her. But now, there was some points in her career where she would do just enough to get by her opponent. But it was always in her to push herself. She did it enough to pretty much be considered a normal basis. So she was going to give the same effort going into the match Sunday. Of course some would say she should probably rethink that, but she would argue against it. For what? The effort that Paris was giving to this match was effort that Phoenix put in a match against anyone at any time. If we were paying attention and could remember, Phoenix did say that Paris was going to step it up for this match right? Right! That is how people do. They step it up when it is time. But why not perform like that year round? Take your time on that one. But enough of the logics, time for the action.

x~. Thursday, February 12, 2009 - Road To Redemption

Phoenix sat in her living room watching the television trying to find something on that was good. Of course, that was very limited due to the fact that most things sucked now. But then she crossed over MTV and saw that a new show was coming.

Phoenix Hmmm....what is this?

It would seem that rapper T.I. had some new show on called "Road To Redemption." He would be facing up to 30 years of jail time for an arrest from a little time ago. As part of a deal he worked out with his lawyers and the federal government, he could complete 1000 hours of community service up until March so that his sentence could possibly be reduced. So he would go through helping others avoid some of the mistakes he made. Phoenix happened to like to guy so she left the channel there and watched the show. It inspired her to do something similar. Of course, she had no pending charges and had no need for hours of community service. However, it would look good to give back to the community. As she was in thought, her phone started ringing. She snapped back into reality and reached over answering it.

Phoenix Yes?

Rebecca Hey Vic, you busy?

Phoenix Not really Becca, why?

Rebecca Well, I have this little sister of mine that I wanted you to talk to.

Phoenix Talk to fooorrr.....?

Rebecca Well you know how teens her age are...

Phoenix What is she...about 17 now?

Rebecca 16...but you would think she was 21.

Phoenix Not me. I have not seen the girl in ages. How is she now?

Rebecca As bad as ever. When I tell you that she stays in trouble, I mean it in every vowel and consonant in that word.

Phoenix So why am I talking to her?

Rebecca You know, it is always the troublesome ones that have the biggest dreams. Ironically, she dreams to be a wrestler some day. But I keep telling her, you cannot be a wrestler in jail. I had even saved up some money for her to go to wrestling school, but she got kicked out of there the first week.

Phoenix Hmm...you know...I might be able to help you out.

Rebecca Yeah, I think having a talk with you, someone who actually is a wrestler and did not have the greatest past either, you could possibly help her out.

Phoenix Yeah, maybe even more than you think. I will give you the details when I get there though.

Rebecca That will work...see you soon.

Phoenix Yeah.

They both hung up and Phoenix turned off her television. This was going to be easy. Now Phoenix could in a sense give back to the community. Today, people were going to learn a little something new about Phoenix that no one knew. It was actually a project she had been working on over her four-five month hiatus from the business. She went upstairs and got dressed for the day before heading out. Her friend stayed in the Los Angeles area, so she did not have all that far to travel..at least not yet. She got there and knocked on the door. The door opened and in the doorway stood Rebecca. Phoenix could hear loud music coming from inside.

Phoenix That your little sister?

Rebecca seemed to be embarrassed to even answer, but she nodded her head yes. Phoenix just nodded figuring that was what she heard. She walked up and headed up the stairway in the direction that the music came from. Rebecca showed her to the room and had to literally beat on the door to hopefully get an answer. The girl opened it and her room looked like someone just threw a lot of trash in there and told her to stay there. The girl was shocked to see Phoenix. She rushed and turned the loud music off.

Melissa Wow..are you...

Phoenix Phoenix?...Yes I am.

She started jumping up and down and stuff. You could not even see the "bad girl" in her at this point.

Melissa You are like the greatest ever.

Phoenix I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who felt that way.

Phoenix grinned.

Phoenix No but really, I am okay. I do what I can, you know?

She nodded. She probably really did not know, but she sure as hell nodded like she did.

Phoenix So how about you come take a ride with me?

Her mouth dropped. She threw the headphones from her neck and grabbed whatever few items she needed to take with her. It would make you wonder why she had headphones because she surely had not been just using them. Phoenix erased the thought from her mind as the girl came rushing out of the room.

Melissa Wow Beck, you said you knew Phoenix but I just knew you were lying.

She shook her head as the three headed back down the steps. They got outside and Melissa started getting all exicted again seeing as to what she would be riding in.

Melissa Whoa shit! You got a Dodge Challenger?

Phoenix was a bit taken back to hear the girl just blurt out such filthy language.

Rebecca What did I tell you about your mouth?

Melissa What did I tell you about you not being my mom?

Rebecca just shook her head and closed the door. She hardly liked dealing with her sister anymore. To say anything would have just turned into an argument, one of which she was not prepared for.

Phoenix Come on.

So they loaded into Phoenix's inferno red Dodge Challenger and headed off.

Phoenix Alright, so first we are going to have a visit to your old school.

Melissa Meh, I am so thinking about dropping out.

Phoenix Well I was not really talking about your regular school, I was referring to your wrestling school. Of course, after today, I do hope to change your mind about what you just said.

Melissa rolled her eyes, something that did not go unnoticed by Phoenix. She could have kicked the girl out in the middle of nowhere right then and there, but she had a point to prove, so she was nice. They eventually arrived to the school and Phoenix got out first...well...she was actually the only one to get out to begin with.

Phoenix Come on.

Melissa I am not going in there.

Phoenix And why not?

Melissa Well I guess one reason would be because I got kicked out. Two would be because I just do not want to.

Phoenix chuckled to herself a bit. She then kneeled down to the window of the passenger side door.

Phoenix Listen little girl...my name is Victoria, Phoenix to you will be fine. What you want to realize between those two names is that neither sounds like or is Rebecca. I will and do not mind hurting you and thinking nothing of it. Now get your little ass out this car before the last thing you remember is "she told me so."

Melissa's head went back. She was not used to being talked to in that manner. She was intimidated now, that was for sure. She got out and walked into the building with Phoenix. They found where she usually would be in training at. Not many people liked her because of the attitude that she possessed. Phoenix went over and spoke with one of her trainers to get a bit more of a background on the girl. Besides, with what she had planned, she was going to need to know some information. Her instructions were to stay by the door until Phoenix returned. Did she? Of course not. Just as Phoenix was getting good into the conversation, she could see from a distance that someone was fighting. Can you guess who? Yes, the crazy girl was fighting the very same person she had fought a few weeks prior to that to get kicked out to begin with. Phoenix and some of the instructors ran over to break it up.

Trainer Look...you are not supposed to be here anyway young lady!

Melissa was about to retaliate but Phoenix shushed her. She remembered their little "talk" from earlier and got quiet. The trainer looked at the other girl.

Trainer And you...you got a warning the first time since I believe the fight was really initiated by Melissa here. But this time...you have to go. I cannot have you here constantly being in fights...whether you start them or not.

The girl looked surprised. She was not expecting to get thrown out..but then..who would be?

Phoenix Wait...how about you let her stay....for me?

The guy looked and took a deep breath. This was not his plan, but he knew of Phoenix and he could probably guess why she wanted him to keep the girl in school. He nodded and walked off with the girl. Phoenix walked back out into the hallway with Melissa and they just strolled through slowly.

Phoenix Okay first, fix your clothes.

Melissa started fixing her clothes back to how they were before the fight. She then brushed some strands of her hair back into a ponytail.

Phoenix Now what is it that makes you want to fight so bad?

Melissa It is just what I like to do. I like to fight. I am good at it, so I do it.

She shrugged. Phoenix knew exactly what that meant.

Phoenix Yeah, I understand.

Melissa cut a look, like.."really"?

Melissa You do?

Phoenix Yeah. Surprised?

Melissa Very.

Phoenix I like to fight too. I just use it in a positive way...I guess you could say.

Melissa Well I tried, but I think I just get too serious and I kept losing when we would have matches.

Phoenix nodded.

Phoenix I see. I talked to your trainer and he told me about it.

Melissa I inspire to be like you.

Phoenix Well I can tell you that it does not come overnight. However, that is not a way of saying to give it up. Never give up anything that you have set for you. People will tell you otherwise the whole while, but you should always dare to dream. I dare to dream all the time, and my dreams just happen to become a reality.

Melissa Easier said than done. Anyway, I just started taking my frustrations out on people.

Phoenix Yeah, but eventually that will not work out the way that you want it to. Either you will keep getting kicked out of schools. Or like you have already planned, you start developing a sense to do things like dropping out of school. So many horrible things can come out of it.

Melissa Oh way...I guess that is just my destiny.

Phoenix You can rewrite destiny.

Melissa Easy for you to say.

Phoenix Yeah, and someday it will be easy for you too. Come on, we have another stop to make.

x~. Thursday, February 12, 2009 - Dare To Dream Wrestling Academy - Knoxville, Tennessee

So now Phoenix and Melissa had traveled all the way to Tennessee. They took Phoenix's jet over because she had a bit more to show her. It was about time to be getting ready to make her way to Milan, but Phoenix was actually enjoying this "outing" of sorts. She was not sure if Rebecca knew she would have Melissa all the way in a different state that was not even close by, but oh well. They drove around Phoenix's original hometown and Phoenix showed her some of the places she grew up. They finally made their way to her new favorite spot of childhood neighborhood. Over the course of four or five months during her absence from the business, Phoenix decided she wanted to do something different. She had the mindset of a true wrestler. People only understood Phoenix as the person that they saw in the ring and the one who had no problem speaking her mind. But Phoenix was doing more productive things that a lot of people in the business now did not do. As stated earlier, it was an entirely different side to Phoenix that a lot of people did not know about. This something different that she had worked on while on her last break was getting a wrestling school established for troubled minors. Most troubled minors, regardless of what their troubles were, always were in some way involved in fights. It was a way to pull them away from all those troubles while still being able to fight. But this was a more productive way of doing so.

Melissa Where are we?

Phoenix This is my wrestling school.

Melissa You go to wrestling school?

Phoenix No, I own one.

Melissa Why here? Why not back in California?

Phoenix Well this is where I am from and well, I had a troubled childhood. What can I say? It is only one of the reason I am so big on myself now. I am even surprised to be where I am at now.

Melissa Can I look inside?

Phoenix Sure...exactly what I had in mind actually.

Phoenix led Melissa inside and showed her around the place. She introduced her to some of the hired trainers she had there. These were some of the best trainers in the world and she made sure to get a diverse selection of them. That way, the students could work with each of them and get an aspect of every type of wrestling there was to get.

Melissa Hey, I like here.

Phoenix You should join.

Melissa Yeah right..how?

Phoenix I could get you a place nearby. Of course, you would have to transfer schools and all of that.

Melissa Now why would you do something like that for me? I was not exactly the nicest to you earlier.

Phoenix I told you, I was in your shoes before. But hey, to break away from that for a minute and also to give you time to think about it...how about I teach you something else?

Melissa looked excited.

Melissa What is that?

Phoenix Follow me.

Phoenix led her over to where she had a nice little backdrop set up and cameras. This particular area was used for people to work on their promo skills. She would just record it and put it on WGEF.com for her second promo for her upcoming match. She cut the camera on and walked around to where she was in view. Okay, so it was not all professional looking and stuff, but oh well. Melissa watched and would take some mental notes.

Phoenix So we join Phoenix today at her wrestling school. Yes, you heard right, her wrestling school. You see, Phoenix actually does a few things besides bettering herself. This just adds to the fact that Phoenix is very misunderstood. A lot of people would not even think that Phoenix would build a wrestling school because she thinks so much of herself. But if you ask some of the people around here, they could tell you a lot about Phoenix. My dear Paris, how are you doing? I see you decided to step your game up for this one. Why is that? Is it because the title is on the line now?

Phoenix grinned and nodded.

Phoenix Exactly what I said...exactly what I said. Did I not say that you would step your game up now that a title was on the line? I said it. See, Phoenix is that experienced that she can call your next move. Take this as even more ego from me or whatever, but that is what makes me two steps ahead of you. I always know your next move. You have to be a little less predictable than that Miss Jior. Come on now, as hard as you are trying to make this, you are only making it easier. Just because you had a bit more to say this time than usual, it makes no difference. When people see me, they will not have to see a difference. They can look at you and be shocked that you actually have more in you than what has been seen as of late. But me, they know I bring it all to the table every time. You should really try doing so. It brings a lot more out of you and it definitely pays off in the long run. Sadly, I cannot let you get that pay off at my expense, but just take it into consideration for a later date.

Phoenix scratched her head. It was show that she was "thinking" about something. She was not really thinking, but just for the effects, she had to do it.

Phoenix Now for some reason, you are thinking that I am so proud to have beaten you twice? I am not seeing it. I mean sure, I mentioned it because it fit into the conversation. But if I was excited, I would going around constantly saying these things like you constantly say how I brag about myself a lot. Like I said last time, which I guess you missed, those were just two other matches for me. You were just another opponent for me. You will just be another opponent for me Sunday and I will get to why in a second. I just do not want you to think that you were anything out of the ordinary. It was business as usual in my eyes.

Phoenix held up her finger.

Phoenix Now for why you will be just another opponent Sunday. What you must understand, and I guess you do not, but do try. What you must understand is that I have been in this predicament before. That was partially the reason for giving that showcase of my titles on the show yesterday. It was to show you that this is no new thing for me. You do realize that because you mentioned it. You said yourself that you have no professional titles to your name. I, however, do. We have established that. Now once you get that part down, I want you to realize something else. This match for you Sunday is a make you or break you type of match. For me, it will not make me and it certainly will not break me. I promise you that was not said to be egotistical or arrogant or whatever you want to coin that one as. See, I have done enough in my career to have retired years ago. This is just me putting a few facts out there for you. So this match for me Sunday is just to add more to my collection and I take it just as serious as I took all of the others. But just saying for your general knowledge, I made my name a long time ago with titles. You are the one trying to make yours now. And I am glad you have made it so far. Some people give up. I am glad you have not. I am glad you are fighting harder. I like the competition. I have a much better time this way. It is not fun when people are not armed to fight back. Now I encourage you to follow in the footsteps of Ali. Just do not say that you are the greatest because then you would be a person that you do not like now...and you could not want to be a hypocrite right? You want me to have to work really hard to beat you...much harder than the first two times...that is perfectly fine with me. I am used to working hard. This seems to be more of a step up for you than it is me...no offense. You want to give whatever it takes....I can take whatever you got and do with that whatever I want. Think about that one for me.

Phoenix winked and walked off. She could take that last bit however she wanted...but the true explanation of it would come out really soon. She and Melissa had a bit more to do. She had to go show her some of the friends that she used to be with and how they did not make it out from all the fighting she used to be involved with. Some did not make it at all and some had made it, but they could hardly tell you for themselves. Thankfully, Phoenix had turned it into something positive. She had gone through her road to redemption, and now it was time to give someone else that same road.

OOC Statement: Here is the second installment of my Whatever It Takes series. I will get my final one up probably Saturday since I should be pretty busy tomorrow....well Saturday too, but I did say I would work my best to get three up, so I will try to make sure I deliver. Nice r/p there Paris...I enjoyed reading that. Anyway, this was just to further more into the character a bit outside of just in the ring. Hope everyone enjoyed.
