Whatever it takes. It wasn’t just a clever name for the WGEF’s upcoming pay per view but it was also the theme for many of the people booked on the card. One of those people was none other than WGEF Co-Owner and Intercontinental Champion Trish Stratus Copes. It was at that very show that Trish was set to defend her Intercontinental Championship against Spear and she was determined to do whatever she had to in order to walk out of Milan, Italy with the Intercontinental Title still around her where it belonged. Not that she doubted for a second that her title was in any jeopardy. The thing about Spear was that he was more talk than anything else and about getting his hands on the WGEF Title of all things. The way things were going, Trish wasn’t going to have to work as hard as she thought she was going to have to in order to keep her title. In fact it was going to be a cakewalk. The scene opened up in Albany, New York in the living room of the mansion belonging to Trish and Deacon Copes. It was mid afternoon and Trish was busy going over some last minute paper work regarding the WGEF’s upcoming move to Aimoo while her three year old daughter Crystal played on the floor beside her. Trish reached over to the coffee table grabbing a small stack of papers pulling them over to the couch dropping them down on the cushion beside her. Grabbing the first group of papers off the top, flipping through to the very last page as she carefully read over every word. Once she was satisfied she picked up her pen from its spot on the arm of the couch and signed her name under Kaylee’s. She laid them on the opposite end of the couch then reached over beside her knee grabbing another bunch when her cell phone rang. Dropping the papers back down, she grabbed her RAZR off the arm of the couch pulling it from its case. She looked at the caller id screen she saw her assistant Karen’s number. She flipped the phone open, holding it up to her ear as she started to speak. %Trish Stratus Copes% This better be good Karen, I have a ton of stuff to go over for the move and I’d like to get it done before we actually do so. %Karen% I see someone is just a tad grumpy today. %Trish Stratus Copes% More like frustrated. %Karen% You need to relax a little bit, pretty much everything that needs to be done is already done. The only things that are left are the formalities. Surely there can’t be that much of those left. %Trish Stratus Copes% Unfortunately for me there are. I’m going to be signing my name so much I might as well invest in a stamp. %Karen% It can’t be that bad. Are you ready for your title defense Sunday night? Trish raises an eyebrow in curiosity. Was Karen serious with that question? Surely she knew Trish better than to ask her a question like that and actually mean it. Apparently she didn’t since she had the gall to ask the question. Letting out a small chuckle she tosses the papers back on top of the others before falling back against the couch cushions. %Trish Stratus Copes% When have you not known me to be ready? Honestly Karen, you’ve known me for the last five years now if you don’t know the answer to that question by now then you’re never going to. Not that there’s much to be preoccupied with bitching about Ryan Payne moving on in the WGEF Championship match. %Karen% What concern is it of his? %Trish Stratus Copes% Well he had this idea that we were going to let him cash in his contendership for the Intercontinental Championship so he could for that instead and since he was told no he’s all butt hurt over it. %Karen% I take it by that comment you don’t think he’s going to give you much of a fight? %Trish Stratus Copes% Oh come on Karen, you’ve seen the guy before. Contrary to his own beliefs he is far from the toughest competition I’ve ever faced. The guy’s only real talent is picking one topic and running his mouth about it nonstop until everyone within earshot wants to drive a sharp object into their ear and rupture their eardrum. %Karen% That’s a little drastic don’t you think? After all from what I’ve been hearing he’s a little upset at not being able to go after the WGEF Title and is going to make an example out of you and take yours. Trish let out a small laugh. %Trish Stratus Copes% How can you ask me if I think rupturing my eardrum is drastic when you tell me something like that? Honestly Karen, sometimes I don’t know about you. So Spear’s pissed off because we wouldn’t let him cash in his contender’s shot for the Intercontinental Championship so he could live out his dream of competing for the WGEF Championship? Well that’s his own dumb luck. The man really needs to learn how to make up his mind and not change it at the last possible second then think he can get away with it. If he wanted a shot at the WGEF Championship then he should have kept his hands off my belt and not run his mouth about how badly he wanted to get his hands on it. %Karen% It must be a blonde thing. %Trish Stratus Copes% Excuse me? Have you forgotten that I am one as well? %Karen% Did I say blonde? I meant a male thing. %Trish Stratus Copes% That’s more like it. (She giggles) Besides the last time I checked I don’t change my mind every time the wind changes direction. %Karen% It was just a slip of the tongue. %Trish Stratus Copes% Alright I’ll forgive you this one time provided you don’t make any more slips of the tongue like that. %Karen% That was easier than I thought. Don’t tell me you plan on taking it that easy on Spear? %Trish Stratus Copes% Of course not! After the things he’s been saying about me it’s going to be far from easy. The man stuck his nose into something that didn’t concern him and when he got shot down he decided to come at me. According to him since Blair went out on injury just before our match, I could use a good contender so I don’t get “rusty? I’ve defended the belt at practically every pay per view last year, I have one month off and now all of a sudden I’m rusty? %Karen% If you ask me the guy was just trying to get under your skin to get a shot at your title since you turned down his idea for the WGEF Title match. And from where I’m sitting it seems to have worked quite nicely. %Trish Stratus Copes% Oh shut up! When have you ever known me to turn down a title shot? %Karen% Never. %Trish Stratus Copes% My point exactly. Look how many times I defended the title against JBL alone last year. If I was rusted in any way I wouldn’t have gave him umpteen title shots every single month, unlike most of the other champions around here who do nothing but sit on their ass waiting on us to get them a contender. And yet I’m the one that’s rusted. %Karen% He could say worse things. %Trish Stratus Copes% You’re not kidding. He could be like a few others and say how I’m in over my head and can’t handle taking on Spear. How he’s going to be a lot for me to handle. Me of all people! I’ve went up against some of the biggest names this company has had and now I hear that Spear is going to be tough for me. Honestly Karen there are times I don’t know why I bother anymore. %Karen% It sounds to me like you’re over working yourself and need a vacation. %Trish Stratus Copes% Well that depends on who you ask. The general consensus is that I can’t handle taking on anyone that requires even an iota of energy, hell Chris Orton is probably over my head anymore. Spear, on the other hand, is apparently going to require my complete and undivided attention from now until Sunday. %Karen% That’s nonsense. Trust me you more than have the ability to take on Spear and beat him. You just need to believe in yourself. %Trish Stratus Copes% I’m one of the few that do. I don’t know Karen, maybe I’m kidding myself. %Karen% You are not kidding yourself; you’re doubting your abilities is what you’re doing. Trust me Sunday when comes, you’ll see that you are perfectly of defeating Spear. %Trish Stratus Copes% It’s nice to see that at least someone has some confidence other than me. I was starting to think I was the only one. %Karen% I’m sure Deacon does. %Trish Stratus Copes% Of course he does. %Karen% Well there you go; you’re not the only one. %Trish Stratus Copes% I’m just waiting for Spear to say it now. As much as he likes to pick one little topic and run his mouth about it non stop I’m surprised he hasn’t already brought it up. %Karen% Just give him time and he will. %Trish Stratus Copes% I have no doubts about that. Why do you think I’m staying here? I have much better things to do than listen to Spear run his mouth about how I’m in over my head and how he’s going to take my title away from me. (She lets out a sigh) I swear Karen it’s the same thing over and over. %Karen% You should be used to that by now with as many people that come in here reciting the same thing over and over. %Trish Stratus Copes% You would think so wouldn’t you? Apparently that’s something that one never gets used to. I can’t count how many times I’ve heard that I need to retire alone, much less how I can’t handle the newer people. Looking over at the stack of papers sitting on the couch next to her, Trish lets out a sigh. She knows that they aren’t going to sign themselves unfortunately, so she needed to get to them. Turning her attention back to her phone conversation she told Karen that she had a million things to do and needed to be going. Karen accepted and told Trish that she would catch her later. After a few more pleasantries the two women said their goodbyes before eventually hanging up. Trish flips her phone closed tossing it down on the couch cushions as the scene fades to black. |
