"The Kill"
It's been said before that for what we want most, there is a cost that must be paid in the end. What is it that you want most in life? Haven't you heard that there's always something you have to give up to get everything you want? So many questions and one that comes up now; what does Ryan Payne want? For a man that has done it all in the business, what could he possibly want now? That...is an unknown. However, it is known what Kevin Sane wants though, he wants to continue his success, he wants to defeat Ryan Payne, he wants to go on and become World Heavyweight Champion. At one point in time, that is what mattered most to Ryan; being champion. He once said that..."Nobody deserves to be the champion as much as me." It was something that consumed him, he was obsessed with being the World Champion but now...it's not like that anymore. Does he still eat, sleep and breathe the business? Yeah. He came to the realization a few months ago that even without the Championship over his shoulder, he's a Champion regardless. Would he like to continue on in the tournament for the WGEF Championship? Sure. Will his life end if he doesn't? No. The way Ryan sees it now, he makes and defines the Championship; the Championship does not define or make him. Some people are under the impression that if you're Champ, you're automatically somebody but trust me when I say...that is not the case at all. It's been proven that anybody can hold a Championship and they'll still be flukes and jokes/jobbers. Look at Justin Klein, that alone speaks volumes.

Now, for those of you that may have not been around for the past three years and have missed some of the great action that Kevin Sane and Ryan Payne have brought to one another, then you are in for quite the treat because a special video package has been prepared highlighting some of their moments and even some actions from one of their matches from the past. So, we do hope you enjoy getting caught up with the Sane Vs. Payne rivalry;

VIEW HERE

Great moments there huh? Yes. Fight Night will be another great match and moment added to that, for sure. Right now though, we're going to share a candid interview with you that hasn't been seen anywhere else by anyone done a week ago with Ryan and Wrestlezone.com, we do hope that you enjoy this exclusive interview.

Courtesy Of Wrestlezone.com
I tried to be someone else but nothing seems to change I know now...this is who I really am inside!

WZ: Ryan, you've worked for several organizations but the one where you got in trouble in was the one ran by your ex-wife. Tells us what it was like to be reamed by Naomi James and fired when you were set up to look as though you were taking steroids.

Ryan Payne: "Well, you know...they say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned for a reason and I certainly found that out the hard way. When my ex-wife, Naomi James was brought onto the scene as an owner, my initial thought was 'Oh sh*t' and for good reasoning. I knew what I had done to her and I just knew she was about to get me back for it and she did try, I'll give her that. It was a mandatory inspection on all the superstars and she had someone plant stuff on me so that she could use it against me and she wanted me to pee in a cup in front of her, only to humilate me but I wasn't going to do that. When I refused to do so, she fired me. That lasted about...oh, maybe five minutes until I was rehired and put under heavy watch as per her request. I think at one point, a certain someone--Kevin Sane-- was even checking her out. I gave him a warning that he shouldn't try her because she would've done nothing more than live off his name and try to further her acting career that failed before it even got started really. I guess all in all though, it's a good thing Kevin didn't pursue her, he's married now so I hear but yeah, how did I feel getting called to her office? I felt like I was back in High School. It was almost like being called to the Principal's office knowing you did something bad or you were about to be suspended for something but I kept my cool and maintained my composure through it all."

WZ: That isn't the first time an incident like that has happened though, right?

Ryan Payne: "Well, I haven't had many quite like that one but no, that isn't the first."

WZ: Why do you continue to do this if such incidents occur?

Ryan Payne: "Honestly? Because I'm good at what I do and that's going out to that ring and putting on a show for those people. I make sure to give them exactly what they pay for."

WZ: For so long, you had been running around with the "Ladies Man" alias, what made you decide to drop that?

Ryan Payne: "I like to think of it as evolution in a way. That's how I started out and that's what was comfortable for me because it was easy but I knew I had to step out of my comfort zone and let it go. You can't exactly be taken seriously as a Ladies Man, you can look good, say all the women want you and all the men want to be you, and come out and call each city you're in the "Armpit of the United States" but beating a guy up in front of 10,000 people and with a simple look, getting everyone in the front row all the way to the back either wanting to rip your head off or scream your name is how you get respect."

WZ: You've recently 'switched sides' if I can say that. For so long, you were the one that people hated and now it seems that fans love you and you appear to be humble. What brought about this change?

Ryan Payne: "I've been the bad guy for a long time, you know? All the while I had been doing that and racking up Championships and victories, I never took the time to step back and appreciate what I was able to do. I never took the time to thank the fans for the support they give. You have some die hard wrestling fans out there that just drive you on man. The very night I got injured, that's kind of when it started. The fans were chanting my name, I wasn't expecting it and on the inside though I was hurting like hell, I was smiling. It was then, the metamorphasis began and I figured when I returned, they were going to get a different Ryan Payne. A better Ryan Payne, a Ryan Payne that they could aspire to be like."

WZ: What is so different from the Ryan Payne we're speaking with now as opposed to the one from say, 2005?

Ryan Payne: "Like I said, my whole perception on things have changed tremendously. As of December, I'm now the father of Twins[Delilah and Devon], single father might I add. My job is to take care of my family and make sure that this world is a safe place for them and I intend to do just that as much as I possibly can."

WZ: Is it safe to say that you'll be settling down soon?

Ryan Payne: "I think so, yes. Let me put it to you like this; you're never really happy after you've gone out with the guys and drinking beer and coming home at four in the morning but now...my main focus is being the best--both in the ring and with my family."

WZ: Alright, moving along...let me ask you this, what makes your finishing move, The Painkiller, so devastating?

Ryan Payne: "All I have to do is jump and reach. With a move like the Fix-SANE-tion On The Darkness or The Final Conflict, that calls for a big set up and then you have to get the guy in the right position. Then you have to do the move then cover him, the Painkiller on the other hand is quick and lethal. It works."

WZ: And that feral stalking you do before hitting the move?

Ryan Payne: "Everything I do, from the gleam in my eye, to the pounding of my fists to my signature pose, is an extension of who I am. A lot of guys sit in the back and they sweat on how to make themselves memorable. That's not me, not at all. I let my instincts kick in inside that ring and take over and if something works for me, I stick with it. But now when I do all of that, it won't be in a cocky manner, it'll be something I do because it's what the crowd wants."

WZ: Final question; with this new era of Ryan Payne going around now, do you think you'll have the same success within WGEF as opposed to what you've done before elsewhere?

Ryan Payne: "Well, there are very few guys in this industry that can do what I do. Especially with the talent that I've seen in WGEF; from my standpoint..there's a lot of trash that needs to be taken out. I can be in there and wrestle a match for a good thirty to fourty minutes, if I'm not the Champion then I'm wrestling the Champion. The change in my attitude won't change my performance in the ring. I'll still be as great as I have been, if not greater. Will I be Champion in WGEF? Maybe, I'm not exactly obsessed with the fact on obtaining it though, it's not a neccessity for me. I'm just there doing what I do and enjoying it. That for me...is more than enough."

And that was the interview with Ryan Payne, we do hope you've enjoyed that and now since that is out of the way, there is only but one piece of business left to do. A radio show with Ryan Payne as he will hype the event and hype his match with Kevin Sane even more. As Yvette and Ryan left the hotel and went to get into the limosuine that was awaiting them, they sat there now and Yvette shot Ryan this look. "What?" He said noticing the look she was giving him.

"What's on your mind?" She asked. "And don't tell me nothing because I can tell you're thinking about something." She added on.

Ryan sighed slightly. "Nothing particularily, I'm just merely worried that I might not be able to deliver like I usually would in a match like this. I mean, I've been out of the ring for damn near seven months and I come back and I'm in the ring with someone I've been in there with several times before. I really hope I don't have the ring rust, I don't want to disappoint the fans nor do I want to disappoint Kevin. He deserves the best and I'm going to do what I can to assure that he gets just that." Ryan said looking at Yvette, seemed that with this change, Ryan was a different person both inside and out of the ring.

"Ryan.." Yvie started. "You are going to do just fine, you are Ryan Payne for crying out loud. Granted you've done some questionable things in the past but look, they've made you into the person you are today. You're someone who others look up to regardless on if they admit it or not. You're a legend in this business, you know? A hall of famer and what else do you call yourself? A certified immortal. You can't doubt yourself now, I personally think it'll be like you never been out of the ring at all." Yvie said to him as she was trying to keep his spirits up and keep him positively motivated heading into this match, she was doing quite a good job. Ryan nodded, taking in all she had to say, she looked at him. "Who are you?" She asked

"Ryan." He responded.

"Ryan who?" Yvette asked, trying to rally up her client and friend.

"Ryan Payne."

"Say it again with some feeling, who are you?!"

"Ryan Payne!"

"Who?"

"Ryan Payne!!"

"Who?"

"Okay, now you've got me feeling like I'm that lame ass Mike Jones, let's stop there." They both laughed. "Thanks though, Yvie. Seriously, I don't know where I'd be without you."

"Probably in a bathroom stall calling to check on your kids every two minutes." She laughed and Ryan gave her a look. "What's the look for? You still bitter about the twister game?"

"You cheated! That was not fair at all. You distracted me with those...weapons of mass destruction."

"Hey! Nobody told you to stare."

"Mhmm, that's okay, vengeance shall be mine." Ryan said and nodded, but it was time to switch up gears. "But it'll have to wait for later, business first." He stated as the limo stopped, the driver opened the door and Ryan got out first then held his hand out and Yvette took it getting out.

"Such a gentleman." She said.

"I can be, when I want to be." Ryan stated as the two continued walking and heading into the station, Ryan had done radio shows before so he was no stranger to them. This one was going to be no different than the others...well, maybe slightly different. During the other times, Ryan was a jerk; a pompous arrogant ass but now that he had become this new person, it was going to be very different. Let's not pussyfoot around it any longer, here's the show;

THE LOST SHOW
Special Guest; WGEF Superstar & Wrestling Legend: Ryan Payne

"Come one, come all. Either get dropped or drop your drawers...welcome everybody, I am the one you all know as Clay. Now, anybody who's anybody knows all about professional wrestling. A good portion of us grew up watching it, knowing the greats like Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Buddy Rogers, Pat Patterson, the list goes on and on..BUT..today in my studio ladies and gentlemen, I have a very special guest. A living legend in the business, someone who has been hated for quite some time and now seems to be loved more than an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. My guest today is none other than WGEF superstar, Ryan Payne. Ryan, welcome to the show."

Before Ryan spoke, Clay played a little intro song for him:
Can't you see he's the man, let me hear you applaud
He is more than a man, he's a shiny golden god!

"Thanks, Clay. Truly an honor to be here." Ryan responded.

"So, first off..let me ask, how are you doing man? I know you're returning to the ring tomorrow night in your first match since you got injured--which sucked by the way, I ordered that event and it was brutal to watch--how are you physically and mentally heading into this match? Got any doubts?"

"None at all. I'm confident that I'm ready to step back into the ring and do what I do best. That injury was tough to deal with at the time but it comes with the business you know? You go out there and you get bumps, bruises, cuts, scars...the whole nine yards. As far as how I'm feeling heading into this match; I feel great. As good as I can possibly feel having not stepped into a ring for seven months."

"And you're going against someone you know well, right?"

"Yeah, going against someone who knows me better inside that ring probably than anyone else; that being Kevin Sane."

"Are you at all worried about facing Kevin?"

"No. The only things I've got to worry about are communicable diseases and fashion faux pas." Ryan said with laughter. "No, I'm kidding. In all seriousness, Kevin's a great talent and like I said, he knows me better in the ring probably than anyone else I've been in there with because we've had so many matches against one another, you know..it's hard to not be accustomed to the style." Ryan explained. "I do think this will be a good match, probably one of the best matches that WGEF can host of the year. Honestly, each match that Kevin and I partake in are match canidates in my opinion."

"That's cool man but let me just say, I miss the old Ryan now. I mean, no disrespect or anything but it's extremely weird to hear you give props to people as opposed to bashing them, you know?"

Ryan laughed again. "Well, yeah...but you know, it's easy to bash someone. It takes a person of real, true character to acknowledge the good in your opponent. I could tear into Kevin if I wanted to but I wish to not travel that path. This is going to be a battle between he and I and the better man will indeed win the match."

"What if it turns out to be a draw?"

"Then that'll be something that WGEF management will have to make a decision on. I don't have an answer for that one, it could possibly happen though, it's Ryan Payne and Kevin Sane."

"Okay, breaking away from your match with Kevin for a moment; when you entered WGEF, you were talking about some sort of crusade to help clean up the place? What's that all about?"

"Well, see...there's a lot of talent out there that don't care about the business anymore and I don't know how you can expect the fans to stay enthused with the product when you have the talent giving poor performances and pulling a no show on their match, you know? WGEF does have some good talent, don't get me wrong. It's always said though that you're as strong as your weakest link. A lot of guys that don't take this business seriously--that's a problem--and then on the diva side of things, you have women who are beautiful who can go out there and put on performances like the men and some even do it better than the men. You have diva's like Phoenix, Jeanette Sane, Kaylee Adams, Mari Saito and others that can and will keep things alive on that side of things, they're a combination of talent and beauty. You have most diva's come in and just get straight to whoring and thinking it's cool to be a whore and that just sends the wrong message to the wrestling fan base. I think for those chicks who want to play their whore role, they need to go do that..in another profession. Become a porn star or something, don't bring that into the wrestling business."

"You seem to be strong hearted about this business now."

"I am, it's my passion. It's my livelihood, I am a professional wrestler, it's what I do. I care about this business now more than ever."

"So, do you think that you can help WGEF rise to the top?"

"WGEF has been around for five years and it's been that way for a reason. Do I think that I'll be the sole cause for it remaining around? No. But I'll damn sure help and see to it with the best of my ability that it remains a driving force in this industry. With the support of the fans and getting the right talent representing the company, WGEF will be one of the most talked about organizations out there. Any fool can run a wrestling organization, it takes real determination though to build an empire. You've got to make the right decisions and business choices. If something isn't working, you have to know when to let it go."

"Sounds like you have experience with this, well..we all know that you do, so here's a question. Will we ever see you run your own wrestling company?"

"That's an interesting question, I've never been asked that nor have I ever thought about it. I suppose it's possible one of these days, to be more direct with an answer though; I'm not sure. If a lot of people wanted it though, I'd give it a shot."

"That would certainly be something to see, Ryan Payne running an organization. Anyone that steps out of line either gets a Painkiller or a kick to the face." Clay said laughing, as did Ryan. "By the way, how did you even come up with that kick to the face?"

Ryan laughed again. "I don't even know, like I said, I'll try something and if it works...I'll stick to it. That kick worked for me. I think the first person that I actually kicked was Sean Hunter and when I did it, I damn near kicked his head off."

"I imagine so, it's a pretty vicious move man." Clay stated. "So, back to this match you have with Kevin Sane, do you think this match will be better than the matches you've previously had with him?"

"Every time I'm out there competing against Kevin, I tell him before the match and right when we're beginning; let's outdo what we did last time. Every time I go out there to wrestle against him, I want to put on a better performance than I did the last time. If we got a five star rating on our previous match, I want five and a half or better in the next one. I could care if it's a good match, if it didn't outdo the last one we did, it doesn't mean as much. That's just the type of person I am. I expect the best and I give the best and I feel that now more than ever..the fans definitely deserve the best and whether it's me or Kevin...that's exactly what they'll get." Ryan explained.

"So, are you telling me that you won't be upset if you happen to lose the match?"

"That's exactly what I'm telling you. It's going to be quite the match and a back and forth action packed battle but you know...there has to be a winner and there has to be a loser and from my standpoint, if I lose and we have that great match and the fans are thrilled by it then that'll be good enough for me."

"Well, I don't suppose you'll mind if we take some calls from some fans, would you?" Clay asked

To which Ryan responded. "Not at all, this is your show, I'm just a guest."

"I like that." Clay said and then took the first call. "Caller, you're on the Lost Show, speak your mind."

"Yeah, I think there's a reason this is called the lost show, you suck...you're--"

Clay pushed the button to end the call. "Well, we seem to have lost caller number one." Clay said and Ryan snickered somewhat. "Caller, you're on the air with Clay and Ryan, what's your name?"

"Hayley."

"Well, welcome to the lost show, Hayley...speak your mind."

"I just more or less wanted to say that it's quite refreshing to see Ryan have a change of attitude. I mean, I've been watching for quite some time and anytime I've seen you, you have always been the bad guy. It was hard for me to hate you and some of the things you did though because you're so hot, I kind of just let it slide."

Ryan chuckled. "Thank you for excusing my behavior and I thought the same thing too, figured it was time for a different Ryan. It's good to run with the same thing if it works but every now and again, times calls for you to change the pace."

"Definitely, so Ryan..I have a question if that's okay with you?" Hayley asked.

"Go ahead."

"Will you marry me?"

Ryan laughed. "Maybe."

"Well, we'll cut that call short." Clay said as he ended that call. "Moving along...we'll take another call then I have a request for you, cool?"

"Like I said, it's your show." Ryan responded.

"You're a good sport. Anyways.." Clay said then took the next call. "Caller, state your name."

"Folks call me prospect."

"...Okay, Prospect, welcome to the show. Speak your mind."

"I just want to say this to Ryan...personally, I think you've lost your edge. No way in hell will you be able to defeat Kevin Sane with you being all soft and gracious. Don't worry though, I'll be sure to post my comment of 'I told you so' on your official website."

"Wow...harsh words." Clay said. "Ryan, rebuttal?"

"Wow..." Ryan said pausing for a second. "Well, Prospect, thanks for your thoughts on the match and proclaiming I'll lose because I'm 'soft'. You are entitled to your opinion, and I won't cut you down for it. Not mad at you for it either, but see just because you have an opinion don't make it right but I guess we'll see come Fight Night, now won't we." Ryan responded in a respectful way not losing his cool which would probably shock some listeners almost as much as me, I personally expected him to fire back at young Prospect but I guess he really has reformed.

"Thanks for calling in Prospect." Clay said ending the call now. "Interesting call to say the very least and now onto my request. I must admit that you have changed but if you would be so kind, I want to get your statement on something before we take this quick break. If you were the same Ryan from say...seven months ago, what would you say to Kevin Sane heading into the match?" Clay asked

"Wow...well..." Ryan said starting off. "If I were the same arrogant, cocky, pompous ass I was back then, I'd probably tell him that: there's absolutely no way that he could defeat me. Not even God could save him from the beating I'm going to give him. God's going to be sitting this fight out and as far as Jesus goes...he's just some guy that cuts my grass every other week."

"Damn!" Clay said laughing. "Well, we're going to take a quick break, we'll be right back."

That'll be all you get from this right now, you can catch the full interview on the website. So, needless to say, Ryan was prepared for this battle with Kevin Sane. Win, lose or draw, it was going to be one that outdid their last encounter. First match back, he was surely not going to disappoint the management within WGEF and certainly not his fans. The return of the Villain was only a day away now...are you ready? NO...I SAID...ARE...YOU...RRRRRREADY? Well, if you aren't ready, you'd better get ready because it's on.
