The kisses placed upon her cheek got in the way of words they’d speak so they decided to be meek -
saying goodbye in the rain and snow the man without a plan but with scars to show and a woman he confessed he didn’t know.
He nursed emotional incompetence tried to fill his head with commonsense broken by the weight of such pretense
alone at the top of his big old house where the only game was cat and mouse and his heart and soul were sure to grouse
he escaped away inside his books tried to avoid the dirty looks loosing himself in crannies and nooks
and that’s where he waits unto this day he just turned his back and walked away with nothing in his heart and no more to say.

Hi Lb - poor little man, hiding away, this reminded me of the man who slept for 40 years. Like the poem Emma |
