I enjoy what others don’t know about me,

 <o:p></o:p>

Opening up in fractions and spilling

 <o:p></o:p>

Out droplets of my true self for them to see-

 <o:p></o:p>

Whether or not they are willing.

 <o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

**

 <o:p></o:p>

I enjoy that awkward silence that follows

 <o:p></o:p>

‘Actually, she died?when they inquire after Gran,

 <o:p></o:p>

Am titillated by fevered gulps and swallows

 <o:p></o:p>

When I breed discomfort as only I can.

 <o:p></o:p>

**

 <o:p></o:p>

Not the nicest cake on display I know,

 <o:p></o:p>

For all my pretty cream, I’m gone off inside,

 <o:p></o:p>

Then it just goes to show-

 <o:p></o:p>

The cover of the book may very well have lied

 <o:p></o:p>

**

 <o:p></o:p>

Delicious pregnant pause-

 <o:p></o:p>

What have I said this time?

 <o:p></o:p>

Being endearing is nice-

 <o:p></o:p>

Being shocking is sublime.

 <o:p></o:p>

This is delightful Sinead - I enjoyed the wicked humour of this - a poem I could relate to - that imp of mischief that lurks within us all.

'For all my pretty cream, I’m gone off inside' - often entertaining, like one of those teen movies, the delight in mischief...best viewed and 'enjoyed' at a distance, not so great for the victims, has the moral tone of lb's poems :0). Drama created to distract from the tedium of life's niceties. Nicely written Sinead and enjoyed the humour too.

Thanks Lb...I do aim to please! Glad you enjoyed this, it felt just wicked to write it, cathartic stuff.

Hi Emma,

Thanks for reading and commenting, I think the imp of mischief in me tends to outdo himself, perhaps not a great quality but I somehow find it strangely enjoyable to make people uncomfortable though I try to curb the tendancy, was nice to let lose and admit to it here.

Moral tone of Lb's poems? Hehe, I'll take that as a compliment as I'm sure was intended, I can only hope to emulate Lb's moral tone! I agree, not so fun for the victim, but a hell of a lot of twisted fun for me. Thanks for reading Pip.

Thanks for the smile, Sin, as the others say...a hint of mischief, but that one line tells more....

For all my pretty cream, I’m gone off inside,

More a defensive swipe written with that magic 'Sin'full touch of humour, like this very much, Zy

As everyone else has said, an enjoyable read, the humour being the thing that stops this from being too... angry (not sure if that's the right word, it's not the one I was searching for but hopefully you'll understand). The repetition at the end works well to highlight what you're saying, too.

Thank you Zy, I was actually wary of this one being misconstrued but it seems to have turned out ok. Glad you enjoyed,

I know what you meant Katy, thanks. Glad you enjoyed this, I'm not always sure if my humour comes across on paper the same way as it does out loud but this seems to have worked.

Thanks for reading,

Sinead
