mama's room
 
the room is small
just a rocker and
a sewing basket
sit near the window
where the drapes
now closed hang limply
a small desk
on the far wall
now gathers dust
on the frames
of pictures of
her children
and their children
a small stand
in the corner holds
a tape player
and tapes of her
favorite gospel music
dad goes there
from time to time
to sit and remember
and quietly weeps
for her loss
