The other day whilst driving to St Barts to visit my brother the traffic was particularly heavy on the last stretch of road.   Vans were parked to the side of the road and the oncoming traffic was taking most of the road, leaving just a small gap for me to pass a large Luton van with his rear doors open and a tail lift lowered to ground level ready to load up items that were standing on the pavement.

All of a sudden a police car with blue lights flashing and sirens wailing came towards me, overtaking the oncoming traffic and leaving me with nowhere to go .....
Nowhere, that is, except to steer towards the rear of the van with open doors.

The looks on the faces of the two workmen in the rear of the van was a sight to behold as they thought I was about to enter "Italian Job" style.   The police were grinning from ear to ear as well!!!

Strangely, all the Luton vans I've passed since have their doors firmly closed and their tail lifts docked in the up and closed position.   Do you think they've got my number and know when I'm coming?

And "you're only meant to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
