Doormat
As a child I was told to be seen and not hear
Do as you are told Do not argue To express my anger was to be disobedient And disrespectful to my elders
As an adult I cannot confront or show my anger I have people walking all over me I cannot say how I feel
A doormat is what I am What I shall always be
Unless I can find a way To confront my pass And deal with my anger
I shall never be able to see a brighter tomorrow
I wait and pray that this day will be soon When I can clear my attic Put the pass behind me And move forward
Into the brighter tomorrow That I know I have the right too
But fear only stops me from stopping To be a door mat

Hi Venus, I can certainly relate to your poem. My middle name is 'sucker doormat.' I am practicing on how not to be one. Oh lordy it is a challenge. I am still working on it. One of the hardest things for me is to be my best own advocate. I make progress then 10 steps backwards. But little by little this small voice inside me (strong but quiet still) is being heard. Thanks Strings |

Im with you on the now n then thing Rusty, every now n then we slip, its human nature, but i believe we all have the strength and the humility to ask each other for help. And knowing there is always somone there to help, either by giving a kick up the backside, or just a sympathetic ear, makes the slipping bearable, or at the very least not so bad that we cant come back.
