The ever-present mountain, Pike's Peak, about 20 miles from where I'm standing. The field before me is an area being reclaimed. Because it's so dry, the soil is very thin, and it doesn't take much to destroy the flora. Pike's Peak is easily visible from most of western Colorado Springs. I can see it from my kitchen. |
