Applying to be in a craft show in Pigeon Forge the promoter requires that we have "Commercial General Libility Insurance" in the amount of $1Million.
Confering with my insurance person their reply was even though I have a personal policy the fact they want "Commercial" insurance requires a seperate policy and the premimun would be in the area of $1500 for 6 mo policy. They do not sell a shorter term policy for Commercial ins.
Has anyone else ran into this requirement? and if so how was it handeled?
If this is required then the cost of the show would be prohibitive.
Thanks for any reply's
Bill

Bill, I do about 30 shows a year and have only a couple that require libility insurance, naming them as additionally insured, but I only pay approxiately $250.00 a year for a million dollar commerical general libility insurance coverage. I got the policy not only for the shows but if you have clients pick up portraits at your home and they get hurt I understand your homeowners doesn't cover this because of our business.  I think this year I will have my agent send certificate of insurance to all show sponors. I guest it would depend on the show but I would think if they require insurance coverage it's probably a pretty good show.. Is it worth it? I think so, and if I were you I would shop my insurance needs around if your present company wants $1500.00 a year.

Bill~ I also do somewhere between 30 and 40 shows a year and I can think of 4 that require the insurance. I pay $200.00 for a general liability policy with a  million dollar payout. I purchased it from a local insuarnce agent, not a state farm type place just a regular insurance agency. Demonstrating will affect the amount of your premium with some companies.

Are you looking into one of the shows at Dollywood? or the craftsmen classic?

Hope this was of some help to you.

Good Luck and Happy Scrolling
