Darryn has also found some other sites that you may like to check out. They are:
Here is Darryn's Mini-Tutorial for Adobe Photoshop CS (should also work with Elements):
Here are the steps:
First: Crop your picture down to what you want.
Second: Select Image /Mode/Greyscale
Third: Select Filter/sketch/photocopy play with sliders
To get a more detailed pattern
( Before using brightness look for the tools called burn and dodge located
on the tool bar on the left side of the screen if the area is to light burn it if its to dark dodge will lighten it.)
Fourth : Select Image/adjustments/brightness-contrast
Fifth: Clean up floaters, thin areas and other edits using paint brush
It works with 85% of the pictures I've tried.
when editing your picture and zooming in and out hold down the Alt Key and click either plus or the minus key this will zoom in and out when cleaning up areas
another good tip is when you use the lasso tool and need to adjust the mouth or eyes or anything else in a picture (move two people closer together) hold down ALT and tap the arrow keys to move your selection one pixel at a time to desired location
