After many friends and family members urged me to sell some of my material I gave in and did a craft show.  It was in Richmond, VA at one of the middle schools.  Not a huge attendance but another wood crafter came over while I was setting up my displays and said that in all the years he's been working craft sales he has never seen portraits like these and was very impressed.  He gave me some words of wisdom that I thought I would pass on to anyone thinking about doing a show.  Don't give away your work.  Price it based on your time and effort.  If it doesn't sell don't get discouraged.  It just wasn't the right show for the material.  Sometimes you have a great day and others not so well.  Thats just the way it goes.  I sold about $150.00 worth of portraits and recieved about 7 custom orders that will be between $50-$100 a pop!  I'm on cloud nine right now.  The bulk of the selling was actually to other vendors at the show.  So get out there and show your work everyone!  Good luck!
