Howdy all,
For those of us that sell (or hopefully sell) our goods, I'd like to get a discussion going about what, if anything, seems to be popular for you.
Thus far this season for me the most popular items have been inspirational items, particularly Jesus portraits, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and mini-clocks. I can never seem to have enough of these at a fair. My items seem to appeal to a much younger crowd than I had anticipated but that's ok. Teenagers probably have more disposable income than adults. Teen girls in particular have been buying Elvis and Marilyn (who would've known). I had a conversation with several of them at my last fair and learned a great deal. "Retro" is in for teens. That's the good news, the bad news is that the stuff they consider retro is what many of us think of as the good ol' days. Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Marilyn, James Dean are all very popular with teens. One big plus is that I can talk their language with regards to many of the things they think are "cool." They (teenagers) will happily spend $20 or $30 on their favorite. If you do any research at all on craft buyers, you'll find out that the typical craft buyer is a middle-aged woman. Perhaps that's because many folks target that market. For me, nearly a quarter of my sales are to teenage girls, another quarter is to men (they typically buy the clocks and the more expensive portraits), the remainder is to younger couples and women.
What are you folks hearing/seeing?

Kevin

as far as the sales here in NY state, I sell a lot of fairies and dragons, no matter wall hanging or standing on a base, I made xmas ornaments out of fairies and dargons and dragonflies and both have been doing good, I have sold Bella Lagosi and Herman Munster portraits while Elvis and Marilyn sit there? who knows I have a table this weekend and I could only sell Elvis who knows, good luck and I'll have more input next week. woodman
