Hello! I am getting ready to do a few shows in the next 3 months and am at a loss how I should set up. The space at the first one is only 5x5x8 YIKES! I have been using plywood folded, but it is way too heavy and just doesn't look as nice as I think it can. I included pic's of my two displays for you to see. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them! thanks!

I don't know the size of your plywood or the thickness. I would recommend using 1/8th in. peg board (masonite) with a light wood frame to attach the hinges. Also, I would paint the boards a solid color. The brightness of the wood grain in your backer boards take away from your art. Which incidently looks real good. Good Luck.

Glori,

I use several different types of displays. For hanging items, I use 2 2 foot by 4 foot framed pegboards hinged at the top. For easy carrying, I added a handle to one side and 2 hooks to keep it closed.

For the larger display area, I made 3 poles using treated 2 x 4's 6 feet high on 1' x 1' bases. I then bought 2 each of 4 x 8' lattice and had it cut at the store down to 2' x 6' sections. I place the 3 posts evenly apart and staple the lattice horizontally across the 3 posts. I then staple a black piece of cloth behind the display. The staples are easily removed afterwards using a screw driver.  You can see a picture in my album (toward the end).

For items I can't hang, I use those plastic shelves that can be broken down when not in use. They are very light weight and easy to handle and store. I believe I may even have some pics of some set ups in my album aslo.

What is the length of the front of the booth? Is it the 5 feet or 8 feet across? When you sign up for a craft fair, make sure you know what length the frontal view is. The longer the better. It sounds like you are getting 8 feet across and 5 feet deep.

Glori,
I use a wire frame system that I found is ideal to hang portraits and wall hangings. They are light weight and very easy to assemble. The company is located in PA and there web site is www.graphicdisplaysystems.com.
You will probably have to call them and I'm sure they will send you a complete literature package. If you do order from them I would appreciate it if you would use my number as a reference. 16311.
They are a very good investment if you are going to do a lot of craft shows.

Richard
