For those of you who do craft shows, I have a few questions.... I am trying to get my inventory built up for some craft shows later on in the year...."problem"....I keep seeing new items or coming up with new ideas of things that I would like to have made but due to time restraints, don't think it will be possible to have all that I would like to have. Through your experience, is it more important to have as big a variety as possible or to have multiples of a fewer items as to have backup inventory? If I do have more than one of same item, should all be displayed or extras kept tucked away. That's all for now...maybe more later. Thanks for all replys.

Have as much variety as you can. You never know what might catch someones eye. People have all kinds of varied tastes.
Only put out one of any item at a time. If there is more than one, a lot of people will figure they can come back by your booth on their way out since you have plenty of what they want. All too often, they get sidetracked and forget to. But if they only see one of what they want, they are much more likely to get it on the spot.

Hi Scrollnut,
My $.02 worth is variety is more important than
quantity. People, I believe, like to look at a variety
of thingns. If I have more than one item I would keep
it out of sight until it had sold. That way someone
may think...."Oh, this is the last one so I better get
it now". Well....anyway, it makes sense to me.LOL

Scrollnut,

I kind of do both. When I have more than one of the same pattern, usually each one is a different wood type, like oak and walnut. While the pattern may be the same, the wood is different and therefore looks a little different. In portraits, I may have 2 or 3 of the same cut but one may be matted, one matted in a different colored frame, the other may be just framed. This way people have a choice and I'm not limiting them to just one.

So while I have (small )quantity I also have variety.
