Congrats to David,  I am thinking about doing the same thing.  I also bulit a stand for all my ornaments to hang on.  All I did was take 4, one inch dowles 4 foot long and drilled holes every 2 inches and incerted 1/4 inch dowles alone the top.  I made 4 of them and put them every 8 inches apart.  So the whole thing stands  about 4 foot tall.  This worked so well that I came home and bulit more. I did a 2 foot wide one and a 4 foot one that way I could put them on a 6 foot table. and I still had room for my standing stuff at the bottom.
