I use both. I have two 4X4 pegboard painted white. Makes for easier handeling. Most homes have light colored walls.
From the canopy top framing I hang the boards using 1 foot chains with a bolt and wing nut to go thru the second from top row of holes. Two chains per 4 ft board.
The framed portraits are hung on the board with drapery hooks bent to accomodate. You could also use S hooks made from wire coat hangers.
In addition I have two double 2X4 latice framed hinged to give me a choice of using as 'A' stands or open upright.
With a straight legged canopy I can hang the two 4X4 panels together for a wall and add the two hinged latice frames on a corner to give me a full 10 ft display on one wall with a 2 ft corner 'entrance'. This also allows full open floor for tables.

Hope this helps.

John
