I also use a magnet to hold the blades that I will be using. I use a business card magnet and just stick it in a place that is easily reached. Then if i break a blade or need to change it is there and ready. But the pvc pipe is a good way to store the blades. Thanks for the idea. I think I will go out now and make a holder to stored the different blades. |

Attached is a pic of the blade holder I made using 1/2" PVC pipe. Simple and cheap. Have it mounted near the saw within easy reach. 2x4 on bottom and 2x2 mounted in back. If you lok closely you can see I got a little overzealous with the Gorilla glue. Tom(tas2181 |

Forgot to mention that I drilled holes about 3/4 " deep to set the tubes in then glued them in. Tom (tas2181) |

I have made mine from a piece of 3/4" pine 8"-10" long. With 1/2"tubbing i got from Fleet Farm, then i drilled a hole into the width of this pine not the lenght. then i started from the edge and marked a line 1" in from edge than 1" apart along the lenght of this piece of pine. I drilled 1 1/2" deep. when done drilling i Cut the tubing 4" long, To fill the holes i just drilled. I made my board 10" long and droved this tubing into the drilled holes. This holes all my blades that i am using. When driving the tubing into the holes, use a peice of wood to drive, Not to split the tubing. |

Susie, I made mine simillar to your but i added magnets to the front, below each tube, to put the blades i had used but were not broken or dull. that way i didn't get them mixed up with my unsued ones. How did you label your tubed, i jsut used clear packing tape and taped a cut out label form the blade package to the tube. I would have liked to get fancier but could not find small enough index label holder. If i make another one i think i will use a strip of thin plexiglass across the front, sepparate them with small screws and the slip the label behind them. Just thought of that. thanks for getting the brain juices going. Happy Scrolling Don L |

Really liked all the blade storage tips. I thought the one I sent was pretty good. The magnet is one I will defenately try first. I have some vinal strip magnets I think will work. I am also going to fabricate the pvc storage rack for blades that i am not currently using. Thanks Everyone! CheifRedCrane |

My little girl came in one day eating m&ms .She was eating them out of a small container with a flip top. They come in different colors and are perfect for storing blades.Easy open and easy close. You can get them in the checkout isle at walmart for about 80cents. |

Hi All, I am brand new to scrolling and this site. I have enjoyed very much looking at the message boards and learning from everyone. I must admit I don't know how to see a pic of Tom's blade holder. When there is a blue text or an attachment at the bottom of the post, I can get to the pics. I don't see either of these here but some of you have seen the pic so please wise me up a bit. Thanks, Linda |

Linda, That pic was a while ago and I removed it to conserve a little storage space. Here it is again for you. Tom |

I used sticky back magnet strips on my saw table to hold various bits and pieces, some 'in use' blades, a file and a sharp blade I sometimes use to scrape the back of the wood. Pretty handy, they don't scoot away : ) Christine

A great way to store blades is to find a friend that smokes cigars.Alot of the cigars come in thin metal tubes. They make a great holder, plus they usually have a screw on cap and a place to write the size blade on. |
