If anyone has a problem with getting 'jaggies' in their patterns- I have put a small tutorial in the Pattern making tips section on how to smooth them out using "Inkscape" - a free program available on the web. What the procedure does is it takes a bitmapped picture and creats a smoother vector drawing of it. You then save the new vector format as a bitmapped file eliminating a lot of the "jaggies" common in bittmapped files. You can view it here.

Tom,
Thanks for posting the tutorial on using Inkscape. I have been using it for quite a while and never used the "export" option. That will be very handy.

Thanks again,
John

John,
When you use Inkscape in this manner the pattern you save will end up being larger in size, so you may have to resize it to whatever size you need it to be.

I have revised the instructions so that you can get the pattern to the same size of the original, without too much fuss. It can be found here.
I have removed the old instructions so the link in the first post is no longer working.
