I just spent 2 days cutting on the Dremel in a Santa's Workshop at Home Depot. I wouldn't trade my Delta for it but it did a pretty good job. Think if it were fastened down would cut down some on vibration. I had trouble adjusting to the blade clamp but think it is similar to the Dewalt. Have 3 more weekends to go so should be used to it by then. |

I have now used the saw for a second weekend and I can say save your money. The one I have been using is going back. Trying to run it at the higher speed resulted in the blade pulling loose. It would only work at the slower speed and then it was hard to keep the blade in the clamps. The vibration would eventually work the tension loose so you were constantly having to reset the tension. It turned out to be a miserable weekend of cutting. I will be taking my own saw next weekend. |

I've had a Dremel for a while now and it works great with pin type blades but I cant get the other blades to stay in place on the bottom side. It is hard to even view the bottom area of the blade to install it. If I can over this I will be happy with the Dremel. Rob |

Rob...I have a Dremel and it works good. The bottom
blade thing can be a problem but I use the blade holders that slip into the
"claws" on the arm, therefor when I change blades I can take them out and
tighten the dickens out of them. Mine also has on the top an indention where you
can put the two blade holders and gauge the distance they need to be apart. I
never use that part unless I am changing a new blade entirely. When I have
to put the blade through a drilled hole, I just loosen the top blade holder and
leave the bottom attached to eliminate having to mess with the bottom. Works for
me....My big drawback to the Dremel is the blade tension at the back....but oh
well it was $100 with my Christmas employee discount at Lowes.
See ya

I have had the 1800 for a couple of months now and have not had any bad experiences with it. I have done alot of fret work and can change holes fairly quickly. I use only pinless blades and have not had them come loose. I am also a beginner but am very happy with this unit. My only regret is notto have gotten as good a deal as you did. I have done a couple of the free patterns at the berry patch including the current one with great results. Good luck to you. |

Go to Amazon.com and check out the Delta 350 with a stand for $189. They did have free shipping and $25 off a while back. I can't say anything bad about mine yet. JOhn |

I purchased the 1800 from Home Depot 6 months ago and have and no problems with it as yet. I added the foot switch as well as a lighted magnifier and it handles most all of my Intarsia and fretwork projects. I added a vibration pad to the unit and it is not bolted down and vibration is minimal. I trained on a Delta and that was horrendous. Have had no blade problems and only use unpinned blades. Have used a Dewalt also and the blade changes are no different from that then with my Dremel. One day will also save for a Hawk. |

I purchased a Dremel 1800 scroll station on clearance sale at Home Depot for $119.50...it was $239.00. I called them up and paid with a credit card when I heard they were clearancing them out.... I can't wait to get it, but live 3 hours from the store...my brother is picking it up for me and I'll get it next week, can't wait! I highly recommend anyone wanting one to call around to Home Depot stores. I was just in Menards on Thurs. and that same model was still $239.00 at Menards. I think I got a great buy! I've been working with a Dremel from the 60's or 70's with pinned blades; can't wait to use the pinless model! Yes!!!! |

I received a 1800 from my wife for Christmas. It will replace an old spring return that belonged to my Grandfather. It didn't even have a name on it, just a date, 1936. It lasted a long time and still cuts great as long as you have plenty of time. I have used the 1800 for about 6 weeks now and really like it. It's nice to be able to change a blade in less then 20 minute. I did put a foot switch on it. I also have one on my drill press and band saw. So far the only other thing I have added is a vibration pad. It really helps, the saw has almost no vibration now. Not much before the pad. Great luck with your new saw. |
