Has anyone received the new inserts for the blade holders on their G4? I keep having constant trouble with holding the blade in the lower holder and have tried everything. I called RBI today and Keith informed me that everyone was supposed to get new inserts for their blade holders, I haven't received mine yet. |

Ok it took me five pages to print out all these complaints and I will be mailing them to RBI tomorrow with my own complaint so they can see how unhappy we all are with this saw. See if this helps!! Sawdust-Granny |

If you are interested in a top loading saw and need a large throat I would definately consider the Excalibur, otherwise the Dewalt is hard to beat for the money. Gary |

Hey all, I got the new blade holders Friday, they are like the holders HD described. Chromed, two screws holding the two halves together. They are bigger and heavier than the old ones. I didn't have a good chance to try them out. I played with them a little bit, and they seemed OK, but still need a good chance to give them Heck. I got a new tension chart also. How are you all doing? I'm still waiting for the magazine to arrive. Anybody know where to buy some time? I would like to get a good deal on some of that. Take it easy all, I'll be back soon, Scott |

I wouldn't hold my breath on the magazine. They used to have one they called RB Ideas and as far as I know they discontinued it. |

I just wanted to post that these new inserts have made a world of difference with my G4. With the old inserts, it seemed if I touched the upper arm, the blade would pull out of the lower clamp. Now I think I can almost pick the saw off the floor.
Still too big of a saw for my small shop. I think I am going to sell it and stay with the smaller 220 and Dewalt.

Well, an update. I called them on the 7th, and after being transferred around, then waiting on hold, I was told they found the paperwork and that it would be there within 24 hours.
6 days later. . . I called again today. The first guy couldn't help me, they never can. They look up orders and stuff. He said he was transferring me to the office manager. I got her voice mail, I have no idea what her name was because her voice mail doesn't say. I left a message asking her to call me. . .
20 minutes later I get something in my email saying they credited my account. But they didn't call me. I am glad to get my money back (If I did, it hasn't shown up yet) but they could have called me. The customer service is horrible it seems.
I think I will write someone else in the company and complain about the whole experience. I am out about $160 for shipping throughout this whole experience. |

Hey Guys I am not satisified with my Hawk either, blade breakage and vibration, and no help from any corner, I made a frame on the bottom of the saw and put 3 bundles of shingles on the bottom and now the whole shop shakes, have talked to everyone and no answers, I have used my Dewalt every day for several years and never a complaint from the machine, and I have a nice Hawk dust catcher in the corner. good Luck Scroller |

I don't know about the
new hawks, but the old ones have a box with 2 shafts with counter weights, that
are gear driven....this eliminates all the vibration...when I called about a
problem on mine(trying to update to the front flit tensioner) I was told that
the guys that made mine were all gone and I prolly knew more about the old saw
than they did....turned out that I did

I have 2 RBI Hawk 226 saws. Have not had a bit of problem with them. Using them hard for about 3 yrs now. I looked at the new G4 and it seems Hawk got away from their selling feature of quality saws. I think the G4 is junk compared to the 226. They still make the 226 anf my recomendation if your going to buy a Hawk get the 226 |

For all the negative talk in this thread. I seem to do just fine with customer service at HAWK. The slide/angle adjustment had broken. I called them up, left a message and within a couple hours Mike or Mark called me back directly and is sending out a new one for nothing. And then gave me a few pointers on how not to let that happen again. Overall I'm happy with the G4 and the company. |

Thanks to everyone for their input on the new G4. We've been hard at work to address your concerns and I think we've been able to get them in hand. If you've got a G4 and you're having trouble with it...let me know. We'll make it right for you. I think we've visited with most of you guys and we've got you taken care of. If not, let me know. Always feel free to email me at [email protected] and I;ll get to work on it. ROBB |
