The chuck on my drill press is binding when I want to put a larger bit in it.  I shot some oil up in it, and let it run a little to disperse the oil, but it did not help. The unit is only a year old, so I don't think it can be worn out.   Any suggestions how to make it work freely again ?

Problem solved. Had a local machinist look at it. He said he had the same problem once before. There is a burr on one of the jaws. With some oil , and a little persuasion ,  he worked it free.

Will,
Glad to here you got your problem solved- was thinking about it and couldn't figure out why it should do that. The only chucks I ever had a problem with were wore so they wouldn't grip tight enough.
