I ran across a DW 788 yesterday in a pawn shop. It looked almost new. I didn't try it but could anytime. He had it priced at $225.00 but after talking with the owner he said he would lt it go for $125.00. I believe it's a pretty good deal if it checks out OK. Think I'm going back and try cutting with it tomorrow, He daid he usually didn't get much interest in scroll saws. I'm pretty new to scrolling but know the 788 cost much more then that. It had no apparent scratches, dents or any paint worn. Table looks as if it had only been used very little. I think it will still be there monday. I think I might go ahead and buy it and maybe someone else would like it if I decide I don't want it. I don't know how to check if it's an import or a US machine? I'll take a PIC anyway.

Hking,
look on the motor tag- if it says made in Canada (small print)-buy it. Up till a couple of years ago they were all made in Canada.

The motor tage may show Type 1 or 2. Type 1 is the one you want. Also check the blade position fron front to back. Look at it fron the side and watch as the saw makes its cutting motion. It must at some point pass through the verticle. See the thread about cutting problems with DW 788. If you need more info or?? you can e-mail me direct
