I am a new to this group, I enjoy wood working as a hobby, I just purchased a Hawk G4 Scroll Saw. I am just now learning how to use it, I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has a G4 or is knowledgeable with it. Most of my experience with scroll saws have been with a Delta or similar brands, low end quaility and low dollar investments. I have never made a scroll saw portrait before, but hope to start as soon as I gain a little more knowledge, and improve my skills. Any help would be appreciated. I work with computers and electronics for a living, plus spent 30 plus years in retail management. If I can be of any help with computer issues for anyone, please let me know. I can build computers from scratch, repair, program, and just about solve most issues. I am the guy the help desk calls for help in my company. I hope to be able to find some help with future projects and give some help to some one else.
Jim (Put-man)

Jim,
Looks like you are off to a great start with your saw purchase. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have. Just about no matter what it is, someone has been there and done that.
Also thanks for the bio info and offer for computer help- while I can handle just about any computer question for myself- it sure is difficult to relay that in written word to others.  I'm sure your knowledge will help.
For making your own patterns, check out the info under the "Pattern Making Tips".

Congradulations on the HAWK G4. I purchashed one last year at a show in Everett, Wa ( now live in San Diego,CA ) and am still learning. I can't seem to cut straight yet, not machine fault, mine.
Does wonderful cuts, making jigsaw puzzles is a blast, only thing so far I can make and not worry about straight cuts, ha ha.. Anyway good luck
