Hi Everyone and Happy Easter. I have a Dewalt and I've had it about 2 years now and in the most part I love it. BUT the tension will not stay on. I put a blade in and as soon as I switch on the tension goes and I have to stop and retension it and still it will not stay. I have had it in the shop and it was presumably fixed but it is no better and the more I use it the worst it gets. Any ideas? As I said I love it and don't want to have to buy another at least not for a few more years yet.
Thanks for any help. Marg

Marg,
First thing I would check is if the blades are slipping slightly in the clamps.
A new blade will also stretch a little so you may have to retension if you are cutting for a while without having to change holes.

Marg;

Take the tension piece apart and you may find the screw(inside) has come loose. The tension mechanism is a very simple part to check/inspect. Hope this may solve your problem.

Thanks guys. My husband adjusted the tension mechanism and I have started to sand the ends of the blades and all seems to be well. Thanks a lot, I was beginning to really hate my s/s, but we are back to being happy again. Marg

I believe that the tension lever rides on little bumps or ball bearings and that might be worn out so it has no way of staying in place.just my two cents,but I,ve never had mine apart only bought it month ago

Marge;

Take the tension mechanism apart (very simple) and check to assure the inside main screw is tightened. The main screw sometimes works loose.

Try sanding the ends of the blades before using,also check the set screw on the opposite side  of the tighting knob.If it is almost flush with the inside of the clamp  it does not grip the blade very tight
