I'm looking at getting one of these saw.  Similar price, but very different saws.  Any opinions on which is mostly preferred.  I'm looking for a saw for portraits as well as puzzles.

I have found one place that has the P-20, as of two weeks ago it has become officially "discontinued".

thanks in advance
Greg Haugen

One thing you might consider is replacement parts.  Not only did Delta discontinue the 40-680 model saw, from talling to their parts people it appears they only have to attempt to supply parts.

I don't mean that the P20 isn't a good saw.  I have one I bought in 2001 and have about a bazzilion hours on it.  I am just concerned about replacement parts being available in the future.

I have owned 3 deltas 250 and wore 2 out, still waiting on parts. I have had a dremel and I have my dewalt and a rbi hawk. I love my dewalt its been very faithful for about 11 years I made 400 to 450 christmas ornaments on it each fall plus all the bigger cuttings I do the rest of the year, and as far as the hawk? it is nothing more than a glorified boat anchor! good luck on your purchase Howard

Hey Scroller991,

Which model Hawk do you own?  What don't you like about it?  Have you ever considered selling it?

It is one of the bigger models I've walked around so long I've forgotten. It is a blade breaker AND I MEAN BLADE BREAKER! I have followed all the instructions that hawk gave me smoothing the blade holders speed tension etc and it will break a blade every 3"or so. I wanted it for the larger pictures I do that won't fit on my dewalt but I have learned to work around it, I really was hoping to get it to work some day. the factory wasn't any help so I really need to go over it one more time really good and decide what to do with it. I'll keep you in mind if I do. have a great day Howard

Well, I ended up going with "plan B".  Went to buy one and saw the store had an Excalibur.  I knew one of the Sales Assoc. so I asked about it.  It was a floor model they had for two months, turned on maybe twice at most to see "how quiet" it was and check vibration.  They had everything for it, including box, manual, allen wrench, blade assortment, rubber feet, etc.  It was the only one in stock at the time so they even went 15% off.  Now at that price I had to get it.  So my first saw is an Excalibur!  I'm pretty happy to say that.
