I purchased an Ex21 from Woodcraft. Here is what I found. The saw arrived promptly in good condition. I set it up and attempted to use it. The upper arm was stiff to the point of having to really apply pressure to move it and getting the blade tensioned correctly was impossible. The blade was not centered in the table. Additionally the blower hose would not stay in position. The table and the blower were irritants, The tension issue was going to get the saw returned to Woodcraft.
After playing with this I called Woodcraft. Woodcraft sent me to General. General sent me to Seyco where I talked with Ray. He walked me through the tension and table issues which were quite simple but not addressed in the user manual (yes, I wimped out and read it). According to Ray, Seyco preps the saw before shipping and both these items are typical out of the box items from the factory and the prep would have caught and corrected them. Went back to Woodcraft about the blower hose and they sent me a replacement which fixed that problem. The saw is now working properly and I like it. The blade on the EX21 seems more stable allowing me to shave the sides of a cut whereas the DW788 had more side to side movement.
If I were to do it over, who would I order from? I'm not sure. Seyco is $50 higher but that includes the stand, the pre-prep,and the shipping. I don't use the stand so that doesn't entice me. Woodcraft was $50 cheaper, included the foot pedal which I do use, free shipping, but no pre-prep. Seyco might want to add that they prep their saws prior to shipping to inform potential buyers as to what they are getting for the additional charge. I don't know how they work Ray into it.
The saw is great and enjoyable to use.
