I have a host that wants a Survivor show! She saw it on my list of theme shows, but I have never done one before.

I looked in our docs and our Theme Shows section and didn't see anything.

HELP!

I don't watch the show, so I am CLUELESS!

I haven't done this before, but based on the challenges at the show, I would split the group into two "tribes"

Give them each a recipe and the directions they need to complete and whoever is done first wins.

Mix it up and maybe have each step of the recipe on a different index card, or as part of a puzzle.  They first have to put the recipe in order correctly before they can start cooking.

As for specific recipes, I don't know.  They don't eat much on surviver -- maybe do something with fruit or bananas....

Hope that helps a little!

Not Survivor, but on the same note, here is a layout for an Amazing Race show, my director got it from Nancy Jo.  You could adjust this to fit Survivor

I think you could choose ANY two recipes, and I've heard it done as a SOUPER HERO show, where one team prepares a soup and the other prepares a Hero sandwich (using the two loaves of pilsbury french dough baked on the round stone in a circle).  I guess they they could yell Superman! and Batman! or something!! They could pick.

The Amazing Race Instructions

Set up two stations providing ingredients & tools needed to play.

Divide players into two Teams.   Each team will be creating a different recipe.

Instructions for creating the recipe are printed on cards.

Each team will have their own ToolTime Specialist who will hand out the instruction cards.

Each task must be completed before you can get the next instruction.

Along the way you will encounter Pit Stops, Bumps in the Road, Detours and U-Turns.  When you receive one of these, you must get the attention of the entire room by calling out:  Pit Stop, Bump in the Road, etc. (whatever it says on the card).  Everyone on both teams - must STOP what they are doing and listen before resuming their task.

All team members must participate in completing the recipe.  Once a task is completed, a different person must step in to complete the next instruction.

The person on each team to receive the first instruction card will be the one who has driven a car the fastest. When you find out who that is, that person should raise their hand.

I don't watch Survivor either.  But I do know that they split the group into two "tribes" and each week they go through challenges and then someone is voted off.  I can't even tell you where they are at this season!  But that might help to influence your menu.

Deb, don't take this the wrong way, but why did you put a Survivor show on your theme list since you don't watch the show?  Just curious!

I think I am going to alter this Amazing Race game to be a battle of the sexes game for my couple's show on Friday.

For Survivor Show change names of the Pit Stops, Bumps in the Road, Detours, and U-Turns to Not-For-Immunity Challanges, Obstacle Course, Fishing For Food, and Mind Games.
Not-For-Immunity Challanges could be where they need to come to you as the consultant and get info regarding host benefits, guest specials, or host specials.
Obstacle Course could be putting a multi part tool like the food chopper, Ultimate Mandoline, or even the Measure All Cup (so many people have trouble with that one!) together correctly as the step before they need to use that item.
Fishing For Food could be where you hide an item for each team either in a cabinet (if not a refrigerator item) or in the refrigerator before the show and they have to locate it. It could just be labeled on the bottom of the jar/package team 1 or 2.
Mind Games (because all of these reality shows have "strategy players" that mess with people's minds) could be where they have to come up with the Food Chopper can be used for these 5 things and then name them (or whatever tool they are using in the next step or just used in the previous step).
There you have a Survivor Show.

I imagine the survivor show was on a list that was a borrowed document and it just didn't get deleted off. Most Theme Shows are just regular recipes that you attach a fancy Theme name to so it isn't any big deal.

Let us know how your show goes. I will figure out how I am going to do my couple's show and post the directions for anyone that might be interested.

You could give points for each step that is completed correctly without your interference.
You could also give points to each team that (like 2 per person) has people that want to host a show.
Set up points for other items too to get a complete point system.
Team with the most points - everyone gets a SB!

Because I can always come here for help!  And 9 times out of 10, the host just chooses the recipe that I want anyway.

I know Marian put this in the Hot Topics, but I thought I'd put a link in the Theme Shows board too.
