must have written this one last xmas

As you well know it gets bloody hot around xmas day so so now the women of the house dont go cooking anything any more

just ham beef and other cold stuff, but of course when I was boy , things were much different, in those far off days of long ago, the women used to slave away over a hot stove for days before xmas , making chrissy puds and cakes , roasting a leg of lamb and pig also maybe chook or two, making sure that there was plentiful supply of ice cream and jelly, which was hard to do in those days as there were not any fridges then.

then after we had eaten and the chrissy pudding was served us kids used to love this as there were coins in the pud ,so we used to gorge ourselves to see who could get the most.

after xmas dinner we would pack up and go to the lake wherethere was plenty of shade and us kids could swim safely, or sometimes we would go to the beach which was just over the sand hills from the lake, us kids used to have a great time, but as the years rolled on and the customs changed, here in my family , every second year all my family would converge on a differnt family for xmas day and all pool the tucker for the day, but of course things much easier nowdays ,only have to walk to store if you need anything, times sure have changed.

A little about me

when I was a little tacker ,my parents two sisters and younger brother lived in a township consisting of only one other family, but there were ten stations(ranches) included in the district, our nearest town was twenty + miles away, but this only consisted of one shop and a pub, nearest big town was eighty miles away and of course we rarely went there,as there were not too many motor cars about in them daysand roads were very rough. The school that I attended consisted of eight students and one teacher.

My father was a labourer ,for a living he would dig wells ,do fencing , rabbit trapping, and main job in season was shearing sheep.

During the world war 2 we moved to Adelaide the capital of Sth Aust, dont know but guess father wanted to enlist ,but, as he could shear sheep he was a required worker, also he was a bit long in the tooth for soldiering, during the war you had no say in what job one done ,one had to go where told.

when war finished we moved back to our old home town ,but we moved into the local post officewhere my mother also had the telephone exchange.

the mail truck would do the up run on tues and thurs, and down run weds and fridays and on each of these days the cockies (farmers ) would all come into the township and have a chin wag, of course by this time nearly every one had a motor car of some sort , even if only a T model ford or 28 chevy.

My family.

two daughters ,three sons

11 grand children ...4 grandsons and 7 grand daughters plus step grand daughter.

4 great grandchildren ...two of each .

so there ya go ,u know a litle about your mate

by the way just for interest there are three words that I detestand they are guys, buddies, and babe, but that is only me, catch ya.....
