Read Scriptures: Numbers 3:1-5:31
Situation: God established the Levites as the tribe responsible for providing priests and caring for the Meeting Tent. God gave different tribes specific responsibilities to meet certain needs. Anyone entering the sanctuary other than Moses and Aaron or his sons was punished by death.
Observation: The Old Testament agreement ( or covenant) between God and His people required special intermediaries - the priests. Now Christ is the only intermediary needed for forgiveness of sins. We can go straight to Him ourselves.
Application: Under the old agreement, only the priests could approach God. Today all who believe in Christ can approach God as members of the priesthood. Are you fully enjoying this privelege with God? Be thankful for Christ's sacrifice which gives direct access to God at all times. Use the freedom often. Pray today for people who need help.
